I saw this production twice when it moved to NY from DC, and four more times when it moved to L.A. Each performance was better than the previous one. If not the best Broadway show ever, it's at least the best conceived Broadway show ever. Brilliant. There were elements in this production that were better than the original 1971 production.

I saw this production of "Follies" at the Kennedy Center; it exceeded my expectations, and I had expected the utmost. I've never been so thankful in my life that I had opera glasses with me as I was when Linda Lavin sang "Broadway Baby". Her face was a theater in itself. (The only smudge on this epic canvas was Regine as Solange; her age really told against her, and she couldn't remember the lyrics to "Ah, Paris!"). At intermission, an attractive, middle-aged lady sitting on my right struck up a conversation with me. "You're obviously into this", she said. "I enjoy seeing things I love with people who are as enthusiastic about them as I am." I told her I had driven down from York, Pennsylvania to see it. "I've got you beat", she smiled. "I flew in from Denver."

Love this. I’m playing Ben in my college production and the more I listen to the music the more I love it!

Oh wow, thank you for this. I got to see this at the Kennedy Center but any chance to re-live how amazing it was is fine by me. I fell in love with the show through these performances.

Thank you! I live in Majorca and did not have the chance to see the show. It was very interesting to get a glimpse of it.

I feel like this production took the safe route with everything. I would've loved to see everything take a step further.

I saw this at the Marquis and I've got to be honest, it's the worst show I have ever seen. With such a great cast it promised lots but actually delivered very little. A bizarre script with bizarre staging. Why does this second rate show keep getting revived??

Ben, in fairness, it's not regarded as one of the best musicals ever written. It's not in the list of 100 longest running on Broadway for example. not in its original form nor any of it's reincarnations. You either love it because you share a name with a character of you have signed up as that character for some reason. Anyway, I suggest you get out, see a few shows and then then go back and watch it again and see what you think, listen to the other people leaving the theatre and see if I'm alone in my opinions..

Ben Stone I may have not have given you as much credit as I should have, you are well informed. In regards to the bizarre.... I found the historical 'ghosts' wandering around the set and rubbing the walls very odd, massively distracting. It was as if the director had said: "Take 3 steps, pause, pose, stroke wall, repeat." It really did take away from what was going on below them. That is what I found bizarre. Also it didn't flow very well, it actually lacked a professional continuity and felt a bit amdram at times. Perhaps it was that it was so challenging back in the 70's that it has got the reputation you speak of. Perhaps if you had seen it for the first time in 2011 you might not have thought of it so highly. I don't know if I just caught it on a bad night but when walking out of the theatre there was not one person who said "That was a great show." everyone, and i mean that in it's literal form was saying things to the tune of how odd, bizarre, strange it was etc. Anyway
