That was a great informative video Captain, cleared a lot up about the loopers and the south and north Mississippi. From an appreciative Brit thankyou.

Morning Capt. I grew up in Granite City not too far from 27. Used to watch the barges lock in and out as a kid. Great video.

good video, as always. a lot of loopers--as long as they can reduce to an air draft of less than 21'--do intracoastal to NYC, go up the Hudson River to 10 miles north of Albany, then enter the NYS Canals to as far as Oswego NY, then into Lake Ontario. alternative, if they can reduce to less than 15' they go as far as Buffalo/Niagara River and enter Lake Erie. traveling up the Saint Lawrence is quite a ways and quite the current to buck...

Most loopers will tell you that the easiest trip north from Florida is taking the Intercoastal north. The only open ocean running is a short distance in the New Jersey area. Then it's up the Hudson to Albany. North of Albany you can decide to head west on the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes or keep going north to the St. Lawrence then down to the Great Lakes. then it's running thru the Great Lakes to Chicago to catch the Illinois south.

Wasn't it the St. Lawrence Seaway (River) they go into. Btw, I had a friend who was the locks master at Calumet south branch of the Chicago river.

I too follow a lot of loopers on KZbin. The Dismal Swamp is the waterway they use from Chesapeake Bay to Norfork. Its a definite bucket list item for me. Probably won't happen . Would love to copilot a trip and then purchase a boat for my own trip . Safe travels . Enjoying the content.

Capt. Tony we are going to be stopping down here above Alton doing some rearranging of these barges for 600’ locks. Don’t worry about trying to track us down, as my ETAs have been off. You know I appreciate you either way. 👍🏻

The Loop route is up the Hudson to the Erie Canal, then either to Buffalo and Lake Erie or to Oswego and Lake Ontario. The Lake Ontario route usually involves the Trent-Severn waterway in Canada and the Georgian Bay, coming into Lake Michigan at the northern end. Taking the canal to Buffalo puts you in Lake Erie, which you would take to Lake Huron via the St. Clair River and Detroit. The Trent-Severn route is the most common route.

Do bloodwork to find out if or what you need. I do blood about once every other month to keep things optimal. Too much is not good, as too little, when it comes to that stuff.
