In this video I breakdown the process that I used to learn to travel from the first wave to the second wave on the foil!
It's a bit of a multi step process to get to the point of making these transfers, but once you figure it out the doors are wide open for going anywhere you want behind the boat!
I recommend starting off learning where you get power in both the first wave and the second wave, as both are necessary for making this transfer. It can be challenging to find the spot with the most power in the second wave, so if you're looking for more in depth tips on that check out this video: • HOW TO: Wake Foil pt. ...
Once you get the power in the waves figured out, learning the cadence and technique of pumping your foil if key. I go in depth on my thought on this in the video, but a quick note is I try to think about guiding the wings through their natural range of motion, not forcing it up and down.
Once you can keep pace for a little while pumping, going for it and figuring out the line is the final step. This part requires just enjoying the process... it takes some time to find the right line, timing, and turns to get you where you need to be. Quick tips would be: turn out from the wave sharper than you think you might need to, and taking it out wider from the boat than you might think necessary.
This is a tricky one to learn but it is well worth the process! This to me is what makes foiling so free and different. Hope this video helps! thanks for watching 🙏

Quick question for a wake jump do you stand tall in the trough of the wake or do you stand tall past the trough on your way up the wake?

It can be hard to time, but the goal is to stand tall at the top of the wake, not in the trough. Really though if you maintain your edge and are standing tall by the time you leave the wake you should get a solid release.
