Periodically I answer questions or think about topics that would take too long to cover in one of my normal videos. So I am trying something new. In this format I take a deeper dive into the topic of "Value vs Premium" wakesurf boats, and then I talk about my first impressions of the 2022 Supra SL, and why I can't wait to spend more time in it.

On a 2019 Max with stock ballast full the pitch is around 8 degrees. When you add Wakemakers upgrade which adds larger rear bags and additional midship bags when full you will get around 8.5-9 degrees pitch using 10 on center plate. I watched your last lead placement video and moved my lead and extra bag to get pitch of 11 degrees and it was best wave I’ve made. You can see on my last video on my channel. I normally run around 3-3.5 degrees roll (regular side). I run around 5300-5500 lbs of ballast. Enjoy your videos and now I want a nice Cohiba to puff on :D

haha, I have cohibas too. I only have a few, but I have many cigars I have saved and slowly smoked from 1990s, genuine cuban. I miss my monte cristo #2s the most. Glad to know that helped you! The moombas really like the pitch up to about 11. and the Supras around 10.

@@wake9tv btw at the end of the video you asked if we’d like to know your thoughts on moving from California to the South. I live in Bama so I’d love to hear what you think about our neck of the woods so to speak. Don’t want to get too political or anything but seeing what is going on over there I can’t help but think you’re glad you moved when you did despite the unfortunate fires. Things are different here for sure but in a good way IMO. Don’t let the secret out too much :D. Anyways take care and maybe one weekend y’all will make the trip on down to beautiful Lake Martin. We are not too far and it’s an amazing big lake to visit. If you ever make it down we’ll have to have a cigar 👍

Tennessee and Kentucky lakes are the greatest! I grew up skiing on the lakes. When i moved out the parents sold the boat, now im looking to buy my first boat to take my kids to those lake. But dang boats are to much money now. Hopefully i can get a older ssv or something. Center hill is my favorite

Had a 19 Max and trusted autowake too much. Drove 2 summers with 500#s of lead in the rear never questioning autowake. Last 2 weeks of this summer my 14 year old was driving and had the cruise on rather than auto and the ballasts maxed, the wave was much more fun to ride and could go back another couple feet. We are upgrading to the mojo this winter and excited to try your recommendations on more weight up front as they are rear heavy already. We looked at the Supra, MasterCraft and Nautiques but for the price I agree that you can get 85% or more there and save the extra 100-150k. Thank you for all of your information.

Really enjoying your videos. Have 2022 Makai on order with May delivery date. We also relocated back to the south (Franklin, TN) after living in SoCal for the last 19 years. Spend most our time on Smith Lake & Lake Martin. Trying to take a ton of notes to help me dial in my surf wake.

I have a G but have always liked the Supra looks and their wave does look pretty long and nice shaped...no dealer on our home lake, otherwise I think I would try one out. Always like your videos as they really go into the science of making a great wave. Be safe out there!

Great video! My 21 SL is awesome but we do have a lot lead up front to get to 9.5 pitch. Seems contrary to your description of the 21. Maybe calibration is off? Will check next summer. We 4 people in the SL we will fill everything put 400 to 500lbs of lead of front and 300 to 400 midship to make 9.5 or 10 degrees of pitch. If xonditions aren't calm we get real wet from bow spray!!

Very cool spot dude! I always enjoy soaking up your knowledge and have my new ‘22 Z3 dialed right now using 800lbs of fat sacs in the rear (I like to water ski too so lead is not an option haha). What is the surfing season in tennesse like? I’m in SoCal and basically surf all year. In fact it’s almost better in the fall and winter cuz there are wayyyyy less people lol. We do use wetsuits and have heaters though so that helps:)

Love all of the information you provide and help with. we have been able to get the best wave so far out of our boat. If you ever in the NW Arkansas area Id love to have you help with our 2016 Tige RZ2. Theres not much info out there on it. Its a great boat just wish i could get the wave a little pushier and longer. On my 21 Kaiyen I had to put my 500 lbs of lead all in the back to maximize the water ballast. That gets me about 9 degree pitch with our small crew. Interesting to here the mojo is that much different. Why do you think that is the case?

just the hull and the way they are built, I think the thicker hulls probably have a center of gravity more forward. And shorter hulls usually more rear heavy then the same longer hulls, but just guidelines, that is why the clinometer is your friend.

I am in the market for a budget boat currently and the information in your videos are a big help. Considering a Mojo. Would you strongly recommend a 2018 over a 2017? Also considering a 2017 or 2018 Supreme S238. Do you have any experience with the Supreme? Thanks!

The supreme surf system didnt' work that great, good wave, but you will have to lean it old school. For the mojo I think flow 3 came out in 2020? and that made a big difference. With flow 2, still good but you have to lean over a bit more to get a clean wave like I discuss in the video. But I would prefer the mojo over the supreme. IMO.

Great information but I have to disagree, the SL wave in my opinion is small, lacks push and is very soft. I have 800+ in lead fallowed your lead placement video to a T. I ride our SL and a G25 with equal over all weight and the G wave makes the SL wave look like it is coming off a run about boat. I also think my 0822ssv had a better wave, tons of push, very hard and I could go 11.6 the Sl we can't get past 11.2 or the wave gets even weather , we are small people also I have no idea how you guys ride this wave, I can ride if I just stand there but if it start doing airs shovets ect I can stay in the wave, I can stay in on the G easy and out 08 easy, but the Sl is to soft I just push right throw . . For us we are very disappointed in the surf wave so much the boat is for sale. Keep up the great work there is solid information that many people can use no matter what boat they run.
