Thanks for all the info and tips! I’ve been watching your videos for the past 3 hours and learned more about foiling than I have from any other source. I have a 2016 Moomba Mondo Surf edition and bought the Slingshot foil with a 68inch wing but was struggling so much to surf it that I pretty much gave up. I’m headed to the lake today and my foiling confidence is sky high after finding your channel!

Hey Damien -- Thank you for the comments. Really happy that the videos have helped. You should be in good shape behind the Moomba. Let us know if any specific questions come up. The 68cm is fun and responsive on both the first and second waves. You do need a decent wave to not have to work too hard. Enjoy!

Damien -- You've made our day when we got this comment back in August. How is your foiling coming along?

I just bought a new XT23, I grew up boating but this is our first boat. It would be awesome to have you show me how to set it up and wake surf it.

Joie Ferris a bit far away but we’ll drop you a note when we come through. Perhaps we do a FaceTime call when you’re on boat.

I have the exact same x23 2016 and was wondering about specific settings. Can you list them? I barely caught your left but you didn't show right. I'm interested because I just surfed behind a friends X22 and that wave is sharper and has more push. I want to try and recreate it as my wave has a lot of whitewash on top. I will be doing your add in dry weights at tower and back but please share the tab settings. Thanks. Matthew

Hey Matthew - What a great boat huh? For regular side we go 60, 50, 40, and 30. Our go to is 40. Higher the tab number the longer/flatter the wave. Lower tab numbers give you a higher and steeper wave. As you know, goofy side is different due to the prop rotation. Both John and I ride regular so we only spend heel side time on that side so just go with 70. In addition to the dry ballast that we put around the boat, we also move 200lb of dry ballast to the back corner for the side we're riding. The tab settings are all profiles so we can easily switch between while surfing to get it dialed in. As mentioned in the video, we typically pull at 11.2mph. Does that give you enough info to run with?

Honestly...Malibu 23lsv or MC x23....best surf Wave ( push, length, height)?
@HALFLIFEVIDEO4 жыл бұрын
Most all of my time on Malibu has been behind the Wakesetter (with surf gate etc). I haven't ridden a 2019 or 2020 LSV so please take that as context. I'd love to hear other peoples opinion. For me -- I'm a huge fan of the Mastercraft X23. The reason why is the adjustability of the wave while riding. We've messed with ballast as well as trim tabs and the boat always responds. If you haven't seen it --- check out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raXJY6ejhc6bnKc Really a ground breaking approach for how you set up for a wakefoil wave. Whether it's surfing (with a long run up to the ramp with the ability to make a super steep wave) or wake foiling (ability to adjust the trim tabs for the best 'clean' wave) - The MCX23 delivers. BTW -- thank you for checking out our video. Hopefully you're a subscriber, Half-Life nation member and follow us on Instagram. Look forward to hearing out it turns out for you. Cheers, Tim

@@HALFLIFEVIDEO thanks for that video link..... I'm around your age and my kids want to surf and I think that just sealed my decision.

That touch screen ability to change up the tabs is super helpful. You can adjust them on the fly. It's hard to beat the MCx23. I would also get the 'bean bag' ballast. amzn.to/38vaOks (I like that brand). We use 10 of them inside the boat in addition to the ballast. Much more portable and hassle free to move around that inflatable ballast.
