Thanks for the info, Shaun! I definitely agree with you on the Broadcast. I haven't rode the varial yet.. looks fun. I'm currently riding the CoEx and Hi-Fi. The CoEx is definitely older, but one of my favorite small boards to ride even to this day. I've rode away from 13 360's in one set on the CoEx! Anyway, always have been a fan of your riding and attitude - keep the content coming!

Real Life Spartan, Coex was a great Board and I surfed that for a while after its shelf life as well.

Good video, I'm riding a hi fi and quad, love the quad for a surf style, I tried a variable and it was the smaller board and I was a little to heavy to ride it right

Would the Broadcast be a good board to us on the cable? Of course with the fins not the obstacles. Perhaps I even want to try it for kitesurfing instead of the twintip

Not too many people ride wakesurfers on the cable but if you were gonna, sure. Especially if you kept all the fins on so you could give it some aggressive slayshes.

Is it unrealistic for a 5' 9" dude weighing in at 197 to make good use of the 4.8, or is being over 190 make the 5.4 a must? Would love to use a board that my wife, son and myself can all start out on and they weight 120 - 160 lbs. Thoughts?

We have a 2001 super air nautique with two 750s in the back and more weight in the bow and the middle locker... would the broadcast be good for spins and/or pop shuvits?

For sure you can do those tricks on the Broadcast bc it's kind of a hybrid of surf/skim. But I'd say if you're getting into more skim style spins and shuvs, the Hyperlite HiFi is what I'm using for that stuff right now.

Not sure you’ll respond to this but how would you know proper sizing for a wakesurf board? I cannot find anything on size and want to get into the sport

Great to hear you're getting into the sport Traydog. Surfers are such a personal preference that it's honestly hard to put together a chart for sizing. Things to consider are... What level is the rider? General rule for that question is beginners are going to want more surface area, so longer wider boards help the rider w stability and finding the push. As one progresses, they may end up liking smaller, more agile boards. Another consideration is what kind of surfing does the rider want to do? Surf style or skim style? Surf style has much bigger fins, which end up staying locked into the water more, keeping the board tracking along harder and allows the surfer to be more aggressive with their carving. Surf style shapes have tons of variations w length, width and thickness. These all play a factor in the size of the board, so once again, really hard to have a sizing chart. Skim style has much less fin, if not any, and the rider can spin the board around on the water w much less resistance. These are generally going to look like a skim board you'd throw down on the sand at the beach but they are coming out w many variations and construction of these boards which gives them different speeds. This too can make it difficult to have sizing charts for them as well. Some people are going to have a couple boards for themselves, if not more, but you don't have to. The Broadcast is a great board for people to get into the sport bc it's inexpensive and very durable so you won't damage it very easily. It's a great one to have to teach people on as well once you've outgrown it and start to learn what type of board and size you like. It comes in a 4'8", which I think works well for people under 6' and a 5'2", over 6 footers. Now of course that's just a recommendation and there's tons of boards out there at a huge range of prices so it's up to you. The best way to look for boards, in the end, is to see if a particular board has recommendations for what size riders it can handle. Let me know how it goes.

Dear Shuan : I am 205lbs with a 5'4" Broadcast (3fins). I was not sure about boat speed. But the board were very slow to response. I rode a Ronix with 4'9" with ease. On many websites, they say boat speed about 12.5mph even for pro. You said 23mph. What is the correct speed for me ?

W Bernie Ting 23 mph is my wakeboard speed. 12.5 is a bit fast for surfing but still doable. 11.2 is where I and many people usually wakesurf. Boards are very much personal preference so in the end go w what feels right for you.

Hey Shaun, what do you run for NSS/NCRS when surfing, also speed and ballast levels? We have a 2017 G23 and found that little valley that comes off of the corner of the boat a pain to deal with. Thanks!

Tyler Loyd my G23 is the same hull. I run NCRS-4 NSS-0 Speed 11.2 and a bit nose heavy in the bow. ie 100% front and 80% rear. And what you see in the video is completely stock weight w a driver and 1 passenger.

Ben Breitbach not knowing how big your wave Is I would recommend either of the Broadcasts. Bigger size, 5’2”, if your wave isn’t too big or the riders are mostly bigger people. Vice versa for a bigger wave and not bigger riders.
