Hercules is another good source for hydraulic seals. Also, for the shaft you measured at 3/4 inch and it has a small groove worn in it due to the seal rubbing on it...there is a product called redi-sleeve that is used to repair that type of issue.

10:48 Larger socked is in order. You want something just small enough to fit into the bore so it drives on the very outer edge of the seal. You are moving into higher pressure systems. Slight deformations in those seals cause issues. Maybe not right away but their life expectancy is always shortened. As you marginally deform the seal face with the under sized driver it opens the ID of the seal ever so slightly. I don't know what the bypass pressure is set for that system. Maybe 1000 psi? Not crazy high but that seal has it's hands full.

Next time you have to pour several gallons of oil take a length of garden hose as long as you need it to be and cut a slit the length of the cap thread section of the jug. Slip a screw clamp over it then the slut hose over the threads and clamp it down. Install a ball type valve wherever it's best suited for your convenience to use. Then set your gallon of oil on top of whatever you need to fill and run the open end of the hose into that funnel. I use a funnel that has a air relief straw built into it.

Observations; I didn't see any "brake cleaner" being used to degrease the pump on the bench. I didn't see the hydraulic fluid filter being replaced. I didn't hear that the reclaimed hydraulic fluid was filtered in any way. I would have repainted the cast iron end (with the fittens) piece. Nice video. Ooh I'm glad you got all of that white overspray off of the dog. Ron W4BIN

Would there be any need to flush the hydraulic system if there was water in it?
@WaldosWorld3 жыл бұрын
I'm not certain, but I figured that water would mostly settle at the bottom of the hydraulic tank and would be lower than the pickup tube. Whenever I would disconnect lines, I never saw any sign of water, so I think this is probably correct

I know I'm a little late to the party here but on the off chance that you read this comment you might consider, the next time you need batteries changing your batteries to 900-950 ish CCA group 31's (The big ones they put in semi truck). G31's have more juice to them than those Optima's and even though they are larger batteries they tend to be cheaper if you buy them at say your local semi truck dealership.... last time I bought 4 g31's at 67.90 a piece with a 22 dollar core charge.(that was not a sale price or a special account price, just the walk in price.)..... and if someone tries to tell you that you need one of those big 4D equipment batteries tell them that they can pick that 100 plus pound thing up and install it themselves

Biden lol what camera, mic and editing software are you using? good job on your pump repair. tip for pouring buckets and oil is to have the spout at the top. this lets the air in the container while letting the oil out so it doesn't "chug" and make it less controllable . a lot of the times you can pour it without even using a funnel and not miss the hole.
@WaldosWorld4 жыл бұрын
For the camera, I typically use a Canon 5D Mk3 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, though occasionally I use a GoPro. The microphone is either a Rode VideoMic Pro or a Sennheiser EW 112P G4 wireless lapel mic. Editing software is Final Cut Pro X. Thanks for the pouring tip, I'll give it a try!
