Around when Dope was released BTS was already becoming big in South Korea and back then they alone apparently were outselling YG and JYP alone and they were charting on billboard already but it’s just that many of their achievements back then were ignored bc of how they were coming from a small label and then around 2016 they started rising even more and they started getting their recognition and since then they just have been growing and growing even more. Dope was a hit when it was released, many people became armys bc of that song.

@@melosasengupta5068 Majority of them were toxic netizens (if that's how you spell it). They were so biased, only cared for the groups that came from the big 3, which consisted of JYP, YG and SM. They didn't acknowledge BTS's success, ignored them earlier in their career, up until they were the first K group to make an appearance at Billboard, BBMA's, etc. I mean SOME of them dumb netizens are still salty af. Despite BTS's obvious success WORLDWIDE. You know breaking records and all, even being nominated for the Grammys and so so much more. Research when you have time to spare. You'll see what I'm talking about;)

There's a channel called CarKpop who had a livestream yesterday, he's a STAY and he was discussing whether BTS paved the way for K-pop, and there I saw him and a large amount of people just undermining their success and saying that they just had a great timing and nothing else, all the BBMAs they won were just western awards nothing special-😭 Idk why people can't appreciate their achievements, I've heard SK became a tourist spot only bc of how famous they are, people legit go to SK with the thought of meeting BTS, so how can you say they were just lucky?!

This is around the time when they were starting to get known but not big. They were starting to get new fans and audience in the west so that’s why they put the “First time with bts?” in the beginning. Big hit was still not even part of the good underrated companies. Big hit was so small that they almost went bankrupt and barely were able to afford staff around the time Bts debuted. After knowing all this and hearing the lyrics for this song, is so encouraging while looking where they are now. Im so proud of them as someone who’s been a fan since 2016😭

It is especially hard to understand the idea behind the song with just the translation when they take on political and culturally related issues but it's really interesting so I always look for an explanation. It's unrelated but their songs were the original reason I started learning Korean, I wanted to understand the lyrics while listening. Now I just enjoy learning the language it's really fun :)

@@mikrokosmos9050 ​ @mikrokosmos I remember listening to answer: love myself after I could understand Korean a bit better. the love yourself message was and still is kind of a trend in pop culture for the last decade or so and although it doesn't bother me I don't find it new or profound or touching as much. But the lyrics of Answer: LM are written so beautifully and tell the message without simplifying it or preaching but more like a sharing of a journey as they say in the song "I am learning how to love myself". listening to the song while walking at night and being able to hear the meaning of the Korean words written so beautifully was somehow so touching I had tears in my eyes. anyway sorry for writing so much I get excited when talking about lyrics. but if I could add even though I am not Korean it makes me so proud of people every time I read a message of someone saying they are learning Korean or seeing someone commenting with a simple Korean sentence using hangul when he is obviously still learning the language because it a not small amount of people who are not afraid to put the time and effort to learn about something they love and care about. well that was long English is not my first language and my thoughts tend to be all over the place so sorry if its a bit messy

You guys need to check out Dark & Wild. They recorded that album in a garage while they were in LA. It's literally their 3rd album but it's one of my fav BTS albums till date.

One thing I'm very amazed of BTS is because of their hardwork. They became on top because of their own power. Taking a risk in a small agency who can't promise you to be successfull, I don't think there's people right now who will take risk like what they did. Like Jungkook, 7 companies and one of them are JYP but he still choose to be in a small company. BTS didn't only just become the top. They made their company one of the biggest company in korea. They become the top together. And I think that's what make them strong. They don't rely on what the company can give them. They rely on their dedication, passion, and love for what they are doing.

In 2015 BTS were already outselling many artists from the "Big 3 Companies" and charting higher on Billboard than the rest of Korean artists...the only problem is that they were ignored my the Korean media because they were from a small company. I was a fan in 2015, and trust me when I say they were HIGH KEY ignored, because they had the numbers and everything but media wasn't on their side. They started to get big in 2016, Blood Sweat and Tears was a BIG BIG hit in Korea.

They were actually doing great for rookies, they were charting on Billboard World Chart already in 2013-14 & they were bigger internationally than in Korea at that time i believe. They use to be stars of KCONs especially in US. But not as solidified in S.Korea bcoz there were other bigger groups there. Then in 2015 I Need U happened & changed things a bit, then Run. It helped them sustain as a group in Korea. Then Dope & Fire made them huge even more internationally, as well as in Korea. And in the end in 2016, Blood Sweat Tears & Wings happened. Wings became the biggest selling album in S.Korea, sold 1Million + copies making them million sellers, ranked #28 on Billboard 200 charts, highest for a Korean Album. Blood, Sweat & Tears went #1 on Gaon chart, first time for BTS. They went on to win MMA & MAMA shortly after it. At this point they were on par with rest of the Kpop industry. Then when they went to BBMAs in 2017 they left everyone very far behind. The global fame after that 2018,19,20 insane.

But because bighit was small their achievements at that time were constantly ignored by both the K-pop industry and media. BTSs achievements was a threat to other companies groups that were bigger. As bighit was small the bigger companies didn't really care about the achievements but the fandoms of the other bigger groups were angry and annoyed at BTSs achievements and constantly made rumours about them copying, mass album buying, plagiarism and many other untrue allegations that were proven wrong. Because bighit was small they didn't have the budget for amazing MVs so it wouldn't be possible for them to spend on other thing such as cheating their way through achievements then. You guys should react to bts videos about the hardship and plagiarisms and other things they went through by youtuber xCeleste.

The thing is that they were starting to get more known with I Need U so when Dope came out, people started to hear more and more about them. The "first time to bts" line was so spot on cause it was the first time for ALOT of people! I remember watching reaction videos and hearing from people that it is this song that introduced them to BTS

This song actually created lot of buss in international music scene and it was interesting to see how this song starts with the like "welcome is this ur 1st time with BTS" as if they know this song will gonna blow up!!
