I first heard Lara Fabian when I lived in Brussels in the 90s. Her stage presence, ability to interpret a lyric, and the sheer force of her voice are overwhelming. This has to be one of the outstanding performances of any song, by any singer, in any genre, ever. This was recorded in 1999, as I recall. The song was written by Serge Lama and Alice Dona; performed by Serge in 1973. It was later done by Dalida to much acclaim and she even did a duet with Serge. But Lara Fabian: wow; she takes the song to new heights. Even recent performances of it by her (on the Canadian "The Voice," for instance, in 2018, in a duet with Geneviève Leclerc) are awesome.

There's a version of this song by egyptian-italian singer Dalida, and it's even more emotionnal in my eyes when you know that this song hits her hard, Dalida lost her life companion to suicide, and a few years later ended up taking her own life saying "i'm sorry life is unbearable" so that's the version that makes me cry even more that the one from Lara Fabian

And you know the age of the piece - it wasn’t necessary. Awesome. Love your reaction to Fabian. She speaks fluently and writes songs in French, English, Italian and Spanish. If you ever want to react to a Spanish song she wrote, I'd recommend Llora. And it's one of the very few times I'd recommend an officisl vid over one of her live performances. It's about domestic abuse.

Just for the info, the lyrics are from a french singer from the previous generation called Serge Lama. One of the greatest french lyrics writer in my opinion. If you can find a subtitled version of it, I suggest you to hear at a song called ''L'enfant d'un autre''. Where he takes the role of a guy who was with a woman who already had a child from another man. And when she leaves him, he realizes that the one who's missing is that child above everything else.

The song I'm Sick is inspired by a real heartache of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love is a certainty, but they are not free either: in 1968 Daisy Brun married her press secretary, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedoms, but Michèle hesitates and eventually flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides to his friend Alice Dona: "This story hurts me, it makes me sick". De verdad es una pena que Lara Fabian no haya tenido más repercusión en los países de habla hispana... De hecho tiene algunas canciones en español que, por lo menos a España, nunca llegaron. That is one of the most emotional performances of all time. I love you guys, but this is the first time that your reaction was actually annoying almost to an abnoxious level.
