I just want to tell you great video, yes I am an original owner of a 1976 Goldwing and still have it today, I was 19 years old when I bought it. Just to let you know the tool pouch on mine bought in February of 76 is made of plastic not cloth. The radiator protective screen is black not chrome or silver as yours is and the bikes came with an audible alarm when you engaged the turn signals. The alarm is a fairly large component and you should see it in the owners manual. Yes I am still running breaker point ignition. The biggest issue in riding these early wings were the carbs vacuum slide pistons were very close tolerance and with a little varnish would hang up. One of four hanging up would obviously cause issues. It usually occurred when you quickly accelerated and it wouldn't go back. It didn't hang wide open just enough that the bike ran poorly. Keep it in mind. One last item was a module they came with to automatically switch the headlight beam if one should burn out. They all failed from electrically overheating after a number of years. It is under the left faux fuel tank cover and when the time comes needs to be removed if not sooner. Here is a link to a video of my bike from a few years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i32bp3Wtmbl8i9U

Lost mine in a garage fire! Never got over that one. 1979 was going to be my 3rd season of riding. Fast forward to 2022, I bought a new Goldwing Tour DCT, what a dream machine!!

This bike is absolutely gorgeous! The red looks the best out of all of the colors. These 1970 GL1000 motorcycles, if properly maintained will run indefinitely. I think anybody that put a windjammer on these things should have been put in prison!😂

Beautiful bike. I just bought the same year LTD. Mine wasn't in as good of condition as yours, but it's coming along. I'm pulling off all the after market stuff and putting back to it's original condition. These bikes are eye candy.

Really liked the yellow color. My 76 750 SS was yellow. My current 77 GL 1000 is dark blue.

Hi Terry, really enjoyed the three videos on early Honda. I have the 1980 Gold Wing Interstate. I exhausted finding a naked GL1200 two years ago ( either $10K plus for a cherry one or too rough to restore). I found a one owner GL1100 in Kansas & six weeks later it showed up in Albuquerque NM. It has 13k miles. Speedometer needle broke so your information on Foreign Speedo Inc. useful as I need to have it freshed up. I'm following tips I learned from the video & must research doing vapor blasting. It's a great project but feel the love for these early Gold Wings are far to the rear of the CB750 K & CBX. I make it to Mecum Cycle Auction at South Point in Vegas & was disappointed how few Wings are represented. Maybe more people hanging on to the really great ones. Thank Again!

I like the way the early bikes looked naked with original seat . I have been looking for one that's been setting for awhile to bring back .

Great bike, I owned one for 3 years, had problems with Old gas tank and carburation. Hi quality product, not like actual crap.

My blue 1977 is completely original with 9500 miles. It never had been accessorized. I owned a 1976 750SS and my roommate bought one of these. There was NO comparison and the 750 went away after riding the GL 1000 from Oregon to S. Calif and back. Getting a bit old for riding at 74 but occasionally get out and about.

I had an identical one of these in, I think, 1976. One little thing I found on mine was a screw next to the oil sight glass. If you turn it left and right a wiper wiped the inside of the glass. I would be very interested to know if yours is the same. That’s what I call attention to detail. I loved the bike by the way. After a long trip felt so relaxed. Really appreciated the low c of g.

I had bought a new 79 when I was 19 and worked at a dealership, then later a 83 when a non-current was 3000.00. Both bikes were dogs topping out at about 105 mph. I am curious if the early wings were quicker, granted they were't built for speed but 120 would have been nicer. My 1st bike was a 450 and about as fast.

Die frühen GL waren auf Geschwindigkeit angelegt. Aber tatsächlich in diesen Bereichen gefährlich.

Nice bike...I had a friend that was killed on his 76 GL1000 in 1979, He bought it new and put a lot of miles on it...great bike.

Think you have a later seat on it, early one's were flat. Yours has the raised passenger seat. If your keeping it original.
@jensnitsche4994 Жыл бұрын
Nein, der Sitzplatz ist so original für `76
@raevets27248 ай бұрын
I think the seat strap, which most people quickly got rid of, may just be pulling into it because the cover is cosmetically correct. Yes. the 76 Bicentennial Wing had a stepped seat and all others were relatively flat but they did lean down towards the front as his does. The Bicentennial Wing was a one per dealer collectors item.

If you know, you know. Those bikes were comically expensive at the time (just like the new ones), but you got a LOT of bike for that stack of cash. I wouldn't turn up my nose at one.
