The company I work for took over the San Antonio /Austin locations of a chain restaurant that had a guy doing their hvacr work that didn't know what he was doing and was ripping them off. So after so much time going and undoing what he did or didn't do we figured out that some manager had called him again to work on a RTU. Your comment about another guy in your restaurants resonated. You don't know what these people are doing to these systems and we are always quick to respond. Don't make our job more difficult by throwing someone in there that you don't know what the result may be. Pick a company and unless they can't get it done, use that company only. We're not mowing lawns here. Small mistakes equal big problems.

I always enjoy videos like this. I'm not an HVAC tech in the industrial sense, but being an auto mechanic, AC diag and repair is part of my routine occasionally. Always nice to watch a professional work through the diagnostic process and perform the necessary repairs. I can totally relate to the "we just had somebody else work on it" thing. There's been numerous times I've worked on vehicles that "were just at another shop". It's frustrating, for sure. But, at the end of the day, business is business. Sometimes holding our tongues isn't the easiest thing, but it's worth it if the end result is holding a paycheck.

I could hear the frustration and tiredness in your voice in the first part of the video. It must be a good feeling though, that they called you back anyways to fix "that other company's" mistake the correct way. Still can't comprehend how "that other guy" put the wrong fan blade on, essentially putting it on backwards without checking his/her work after. It seems like one of those stupid simple things. We all make mistakes, but c'mon... backwards fan blade? How do you not notice that? 😂😂😂
@EnderMalcolm4 жыл бұрын
To be fair, my winter tires were clearly marked to be directional and they were put on backwards, so that my front tires were being run in the wrong direction. In a car that already has very poor traction, this made the thing absurd to drive.

Not sure if you know but can Select 13 on that control under dpd to make a custom defrost schedule if you want. That way can group a few together at night and some during day at whatever time you want. Gives some flexibility depending on customer usage. Easier to do with laptop then at control though.
@HVACRVIDEOS5 жыл бұрын
Yeah Randy that is a nice feature but you still have to have the same defrost duration if I understand them correctly..... If you could have a 1 hour defrost at 2 am and 15 minutes defrosts every four hours that would be gold!
@randyhandle20125 жыл бұрын
True but if you set up 4 in a row with 15min duration during middle of night that's a 1hr defrost is all I was suggesting. Just passing information. For example 15 min defrost every 4-8hrs during operation 6am, 10am, 2 pm, 6pm, 10pm at 15mins then 2am 215am 230am 245am at15mins each would be your middle of the night after closing for 1hr if you need that many. That's 9 total with 3 spots left if you wanted/needed to can do it. Customize as you like.

Not in the HVAC trade, but still have to deal with customers and emergencies caused by hacks. Bad enough when they call another company, then you to fix their mistakes - worse when you follow one of your own guys and find out he half-assed the job and bailed. At least in the first case you're the hero. Second one you're trying to explain why it wasn't fixed right the first time without throwing your co-worker under the bus.
