The 2 o’clock club and the pussycat club are legendary! We used to go down in the 80s. The block was hopping back then. My ex-boyfriend‘s family used to own one of the clubs. What a sad state it is in now. Truly part of old Baltimore.

Not done watching yet, but I love the way Rashid was watching out for his community, or what's left of it, by engaging with you. You could have been working for cops or developers or even some garbage "news" outlet for all he knew. And Rampage is super cool for taking the time to talk with you, too. Think about what this place means to her, as someone who left and came back, vs the corrupt politicians over the years who've let so much of that historic city's human core fall into neglect and hopelessness, just like the crumbling, abandoned once-beautiful architecture. A very sad fact about most cities in this modern world. The real people are still out there with love for where they came from, but soulless greedy politicians and developers are sucking all the originality out of these places and soon all cities will look the same and an endless morass of concrete and glass with no unique qualities or charm. I don’t judge people doing what they have to do to survive with the exception of COMMITTING CRIMINAL ACTS & HARMING PEOPLE which these people in the video weren’t doing! Yes, Baltimore is a shit hole…name me a city that isn’t, but there are nice people there trapped by their circumstances! And no I don’t think the guy playing with himself should be on the streets, but he was probably someone with mental problems who can’t get help anywhere because this country’s health system sucks!

I'll always remember my buddies and I taking an adventure to The Block in 1991, I was 17. It was electric- the whole place buzzing with energy. The "barkers" trying to get us to come in to their clubs. So my one buddy and me said what the heck, we walk in, sit at the bar, and the bartender, a tuxedo-wearing middle age man with a "porn stache" says, "You got to buy a drink", so we asked for a beer, and with no ID check slide over a can of Budweiser. We watched a very large woman waddle around, but we thought we hit the big time!😂 I didn't look a day over 15😂

Most urban places people are terrified of going I’m guessing are still mostly just nice people. I spent the years 1975-2009 usually downtown and southside Chicago, at all hours, and only got messed with occasionally by suburbanite boys/young white men who were looking scared, ready for a fight, and getting drunk. That would be in Wrigleyville. Not saying crime doesn’t happen, but you need to know when and where not to go amid a sea of generally peaceful.

This video reminds me of when I used to travel to Jamaica with my family several times a year. The children loved it. Especially, chasing the baby animal and waking up early to go out with their grandfather to feed the animals. They are all professionals now and give back to Jamaica in many ways. Dan thanks of the update on the block, I first went there in 2000, and there where a lot more video booth shoppe. Came back in 2007 with a friend he got punch out in the bathroom at the place next to the midway had to take him to hospital and get 3 stitches to the head. Happy I now feel I don't have to go back after seeing your video.

Wow. I lived in Bmore back in 1977. There used to be a place called The Tick Tock Club on East Baltimore. A guy took me there. I was a grad student and had never been in a strip club before. The harbor area was really different back then.

Baltimore street used to be the city's main street where people would gather, parades and events would happen and business occurred for centuries up until the 60s. The several generations of people who inhabited the city throughout the 18th 19th and early 20th century probably never imagined it would look or fall to what it is now. And the people roaming the area now are probably unaware of its previous significance and importance to the city. The few blocks of dilapidated victorian buildings are all that remain from that time

Cool episode, Dan. Long time follower. I know Rampage and admittedly, seeing her face on the thumbnail is why I immediately clicked without even realizing what i was about to watch. Can't wait to tell my homeboy I saw his daughter on your video. I have lots of memories from the Block, but maybe not like you might imagine. In my youth, I saw a man who had just been knifed bleed out on the street. I used to hang out in Crazy John's playing video games. I met JD who played Bodie from the Wire in one of the shops. He was mind blown that the Block existed. I got into a fight with my best friend in the custom house alley/street. There was a business (insurance i think) there where another good friend workedv security. Later that same building was used as there home of the culinary institute where my aunt worked. And i used to do graphic work for lots of the girls that danced at Norma jeans... Lots of memories

On the 2nd floor above the Jewel box use to be a boxing ring run by Eli Hanover. He was the man in Baltimore when it came to professional fighting, and he promoted the fights and had several ranked fighters in his gym. Among the pros during the time I trained there were Leo Saenz, Johnny Wilburn, Lou Benson, Marvin Mcdowell, Larry Washington and several others After a brief illness passed away in late 70's

I used to DJ at HUSTLER back in 2006! I once wrote up a proposal to put together a "Reality Show" for hopefully HBO..... where cameras would be placed all about Crazy Johns... and capture the insanity that occurred nightly when the clubs would close at 2am

Around 20yrs or so ago my buddy lost his liquor license for a while. He switched to byob with a cover charge and still did good business. It kept him open until he got his license reinstated.

Restaurant bar, kitchen only open for breakfast and lunch except on weekends it ran until 8pm making food. He had a lot of food customers but not really enough help to be a full-time restaurant.

I've only been to the Gold Club on Pulaski Highway, and that's how my credit cards got really messed up in 2018. Right now I rarely go to those kind of clubs, unless I'm in Las Vegas(which is basically twice a year, atm)

Between the Midway & Club Harem was Subway. That was there when I use to go to the Block in the 90s. Where Goldies Seafood is use to be Livingston's Pawn shop. The building beyond the parking lot across form police headquarters was another club in the 80s. 14:29 the place down the steps Google Maps 2009 puts as Flamo Lounge? For Norma Jeans it wasn't just alcohol violations it was also other stuff too.

Years ago, the old manager of the Oasis called me and asked me to come in and work the day shift. I was working a corporate job at the time and declined....and I did end up regretting it greatly. lol Old Mac was a class act. RIP brother. Worked at the Mouse Trap, Stage Door and a few others over the years.
