I noticed that Gabe and Mariana are basically a parallel to David and Javier. You got the pacifist sibling (Javi/Mariana) and the ruthless sibling (David/Gabe). Hell, they even _look_ like them. Javi and Mari both got more squarish faces while David and Gabe both have that long face and same nose. (Plus, the younger siblings have the Spanish names with a nickname, while the older siblings have a more American name).

Gabe is annoying as hell, but it's not exactly his fault when his parents are David and Kate, messed up people and an even messier relationship. It's not like he had a role model until Javi stepped up after the outbreak. And depending on the choices Javi makes, Gabe can be less annoying too! As much as I don't like David as a husband or a brother, I respect him as a leader and what he tried to do in New Richmond. Kate, however.........I just never liked her, I don't exactly know why it is. I feel bad for her being in a shitty marriage, but it's also like, my girl, you got married to a military man (hello baggage) with TWO kids, which you never wanted to have in the first place. I think one thing in Kate's character, and mind you I could be reading this wrong, is that she at most times lacks the capability to take responsibility, she can start acting in ways that puts people in danger because of her own needs, or will try and take the easy way out, like not breaking things off with David when she has had multiple opportunities and good excuses to also, instead taking things the easy way by just trying to reciprocate to his brother Javi, knowing this will cause serious issue later because she knows how David acts. Then when it comes to David and Kate's relationship, I think she's just as much of a problem as David is, we see how both Kate and David let out steam, David with Javi trying to calm things down, still thinking on what's best for the kids even if it's kind of stupid, but with Kate, she knows that David's stressed and the bickering isn't helping, but instead of thinking what's best for the kids, she wanted to hit the road with Javi, just to leave it behind even if it was for a little. We even see this lack of responsibility in the now, where in this fight with Richmond, Kate just wants to leave, run away, like she always does and always said so to Javi, with David, and now with Richmond, not even caring for David even though he is still Javi's brother, let alone her husband even if she doesn't care about that part as much, she just wants to up and leave David to deal with this mess himself, taking his son away, each instance Kate does these things is like she's dragging down Javi's relationship with his brother because all these things are always behind his back when she could really talk to him in person, but refuses to do so. We know David is a moody person who acts the way he is because of the jealousy held from his brother being put on a pedestal basically, David just being the second hand, he's stressed especially since Javi at the time lacks the capability to step up, being irrational towards him, but he is clearly still a very caring person and always seems to have good intentions, even if he's done bad things. All I'm saying is, at most times, Kate lacks responsibility and we should really think about just how at fault David is at the hands of their wonky marriage.

David isn't so bad. He just has PTSD, which herein leads to him having anger issues, and he yells sometimes, but besides that what terrible acts has he really done so far? It's the same trick the writers tried to pull with Kenny - drop in a moody character and then have characters around him emphasize and exaggerate his troubles to confuse the player's perception of said character.

It hurts me to see Kate get Friendzoned, but thats the beauty of games like this, and its what makes TWD and other TellTale games perfect let's play series. It can be frustrating when someone makes a choice that you wouldn't make, but it's what keeps every playthrough refreshing as they are all personally defined by each player, yet consistent enough that the big moments are shared and thus always exciting and shocking to everyone. Honestly the funniest yet most frustrating thing as someone with hindsight is seeing so many players kill Conrad just to not upset Clementine. I kind of want to know how Gabe's STUPID outburst goes when he can't use Conrad's murder as a means of ruining your relationship with Trip. Regardless I've been loving the playthrough and I hope you play TellTale Batman and The Wolf Among Us when you finish season 4. Good luck with this finale tho, cause your choices are GONNA count.

Kate is not a good partner. When you marry someone, you stick it out through the hard times unless they are abusing you or cheating on you. There was no proof David did either of those things. Them fighting is not indication of abuse. If he was abusive, you would think that at some point in the YEARS they were apart she would have mentioned it to her supposed "close friend" instead of putting him in a position to betray his brother's trust. What kind of person cheats on their spouse with their spouse's sibling with no explanation? Their marriage is clearly going through what every couple eventually does past the honeymoon phase, but if you work through those troubles the relationship almost always comes out stronger. But she's not interested in that, because she's immature and short sighted. She would drop Javi the exact same way in a few years once the initial flame died down. I'm not defending David either, he's got his own problems with the way he was thinking of leaving his family among other things. But the key difference is that he ultimately doesn't after Javi helps him see straight. I don't have respect for anyone who just gives up when things are hard, especially not the way Kate does.

Giving him the gun will allow him to defend himself when escaping the walkers breaking into the fence, and without the gun, he gets pulled away by walkers before you can get into the building. He can also die at the part where Kate comes in and you have to dodge it. If you aren't fast enough Conrad will save you at the cost of his life. Prevent his death both times and you'll see him at the end of the game reading a book with a smile on his face.
