.... eeeh.... I feel like that was the cover story, like chandler wanting to go to college was meant to be the official version for killing Carl. I'm inclined to believe the version where Andrew leaving was fall-out from killing Carl. He didn't see the point. - it was carl's story in the books.
@bigboi04028 ай бұрын
@@dirtsa2828 Killing off Carl was the final blow. There have been reports that Andrew Lincoln wanted off the show as early as season 4, but they could never work it into the story. People think Gimple was setting it up as early as season 7 with Jadis, but killing off Carl made him speed up the process into season 9.
@theamunra44248 ай бұрын
@@dirtsa2828 It had nothing to do with Carl's death. According to the reports, he was already scheduled to make his exit in S8 finale (either bleeding to death under the tree or CRM helicopter picking him up there but then they changed it for him to feature in S9 as well. So the timeline doesn't match him having some sort of fallout considering CRM was already inserted in S8 for sole purpose to prepare Rick's exit. And I wouldn't really say the comics were Carl's story because apart from final issue, he never really takes over from Rick. In TV show, he was already far from being "no.2" character as the TV show was already way more ensemble-cast than the comics.
@punishedvenomsnake73078 ай бұрын
@@theamunra4424 lol TWD was never about Carl. I don't know why people say that,he was just Rick's motivation to keep on living. Rick is the main character/Protagonist,Carl is the deuteragonist and the MC motivation. It was always about Rick,Carl ended up being the narrator.
@theamunra44248 ай бұрын
@@punishedvenomsnake7307 Exactly! Especially as far as comics are concerned, Rick has always been main character there. Yes, people indeed speculated for a while that Carl will eventually take over after Rick died and maybe Kirkman initially planned that as well but we see he rapidly wrapped up the story after Rick's death and from what we got, main character was Rick.

I know it’s a dream sequence but everyone who reacts to this episode reacts the same way to seeing the looks of everyone looking back at Rick and Michonne on the bridge. It’s funny cause the angle is deceiving, but we really only see Daryl, Maggie, Ezekiel, and Eugene looking back at Richonne. I think in wider shots you could see the rest of the survivors that ran in (Jerry, Cyndie, Regina, etc) were still working away at eliminating the herd behind them.

@getaloadofthisguy29278 ай бұрын

@@getaloadofthisguy2927 I get your point of view but to me, it’s important to keep it as a surprise so it affects you more. I want to be shocked and announcing something big before so people don’t think it’s weird, it’s just boring to me
@seanbhoycfc48342 ай бұрын
@@raphaeltremblay8639Fair point. But if they hadn't announced it they'd have faced a serious backlash after Rick Surviving yet still leaving the show just to announce a trilogy of Rick movies which never got made. Thankfully The Ones Who Live Did. Aside from one backdoor pilot scene in the finale this was Rick's last episode on the main show. They got to stay true to that ending but revealing that Andrew Lincoln was not done with the Character simultaneously
@raphaeltremblay86392 ай бұрын
@@seanbhoycfc4834 I cannot disagree with that. There would have been backlash. But I think it would have made the show more interesting again which would have been good since people were losing interest a lot. They were in a lose lose situation. Losing the main character the season right after they lost Carl, which could have been the new main character in that case, was really bad. But my counter argument to not announcing Rick’s death would be, look at Game of Thrones killing lots main characters in the first few seasons. They most have gotten a lot of backlash for it but in the end people remember fondly those seasons and GoT was known for having a "nobody is safe" type of vibe which TWD kinda had in the first few seasons. For GoT, it added real tensions in each episode which I think is essential in any show where characters are in situations where they could die. In TWD it was just a, "they are in a pretty dangerous situation and they will all make it out alive anyway" type of vibe by the end. I think a lot of it has to do with the Internet and people always giving too much backlash and hate to everything nowadays. But real great shows won’t be scared of that backlash and won’t try to ease the viewers into big moments by telling them beforehand and simultaneously ruining the watching experience

Although this is minor compared to everything else that happened in the episode, some of the walkers from the camp shootout was a kingdom resident and Kathy from Oceanside. It's strange as the only savior who had a gun was Jed. He should have been shot or disarmed immediately and the only casualties would have been the saviors trying to charge forward. Although she was a minor character, I hate that Kathy died especially from a savior as Oceanside already lost enough people to them before all out war started.
