Walking HAUNTED Village of Sleepy Hollow, NY

Sleepy Hollow is infamous for its folklore, movies, and pop culture. I walk through for the first time to see if it really is New York's most haunted village.

"Sleepy Hollow is a village in the town of Mount Pleasant, in Westchester County, New York. The village is located on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 30 miles (48 km) north of New York City, and is served by the Philipse Manor stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the south of Sleepy Hollow is the village of Tarrytown, and to the north and east are unincorporated parts of Mount Pleasant. The population of the village at the 2010 census was 9,870.
Originally incorporated as North Tarrytown in the late 19th century, in 1996 the village officially adopted the traditional name for the area. The village is known internationally through "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", an 1820 short story about the local area and its infamous specter, the Headless Horseman, written by Washington Irving, who lived in Tarrytown and is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Owing to this story, as well as the village's roots in early American history and folklore, Sleepy Hollow is considered by some to be one of the "most haunted places in the world".
The village is home to the Philipsburg Manor House and the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, as well as the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, where in addition to Washington Irving, numerous other notable people are buried. "

In the early 1970's Duracell (the battery company) had its headquarters in Tarrytown on an old mansion estate, and its Northeast Distribution Center in North Tarrytown (now Sleepy Hollow). I worked in both places. At that time it was known as the Mallory Battery Company. The original Duracell batteries were all black then and didn't become today's "copper top" until 1975. In 1976 we relocated everything to Bethel, Connecticut. Thanks for the memory. 🤠

A very atmospheric village, steeped in history. Interesting stories and scenery. It does have an eerie vibe. Unusual and different tour. Very seasonal! I’m really enjoying this, as always. The trees are beautiful colours. Thank you for showing us around and sharing your knowledge.

I love Tarrytown, it's a really comfy and beautiful village, you have almost everything around there. Running across the parks of sleepy hollow is one of my best memories. I use to live there when I was studying English.

just discovered this channel. My life is 70% better now that i have it in my life. I just hate how hard it is to find channels and content that will make me happy. One because there is too much of it to filter through. Two because most of the time i have no idea what i want! Who knew i would love to watch someone walk around and talk for an hour? How can the universe expect me to seek something like this out on my own? What other treasures are awaiting for me, that i won't discover for 2, 5, 10 years?!?!

This was great thank’s for posting this. They cancelled all of their Halloween events in 2020 due to Covid-19. They usually have cornucopia in early September to kick off the fall. They also have the Horseman’s Hollow Haunted house at the Phillipsburg Manor, Lyndhurst manor,m tour, haunted hay ride, a Halloween parade and you see the headless horseman riding around the cemetery. The legend of Sleepy hollow, sleepy hollow light house tour, story telling of the legend of Sleepy Hollow and day and night cemetery tours. I think they kept the cemetery tours only and the play at Sunnyside which is sold out. Thanks again it was a lot of fun watching this.
