You should do the same walk starting where you did, only this time head westbound along old country road, past the court houses and turn left on Franklin Avenue past County executive building, police headquarters, many county government buildings till you get to 7th street in Garden city turn west where you could see the famous Garden City Hotel, now that would be a nice walktalk video.

Wow! Old Country Road changed!!! ALOT!! The entrances and exits to Meadowbrook Pkwy changed, Glen cove road expanded out. The changes are incredible. There were changes happening in the mid 70s.,before that there was one strip mall before Roosevelt Field and Glen cove road. It had pier 1 imports. That was the only one. Anywhere. It was in carle place (Carl) past Roosevelt Field was fortunoff and orbachs past the racetrack which was demolished for stores I believe. I would have loved to see you tour Roosevelt Field. Many kids would go hang out at the mall on a Saturday..go by bus. The big building on the Southeast corner of Glen cove Rd and old country was a bank many times over and also a jeweler was there along with other offices. That was one thing I DID recognize!!!😂😂 can't believe how "concrete" everything is there now. SMH

This brings back happy memories from my second time at ground zero whenI stayed at the Holiday Inn at 369 Old Country Road while working next to the (then new) Walmart somewhere up the road and to the right, can’t remember the address. I also remember hobbling across the crossing near the hotel with a broken toe! It would be cool to see it again. Bob H

Hey, @Actionkid, I've discovered your channel like a month ago and I already love it. On this video you've passed by a restaurant called "Fogo de Chão". This is a restaurant chain from here, Brazil, mostly southern part of the country. It could be translated as something like "fire of the floor". It serves typical Brazilian barbecue, which is vastly different from American barbecue. It's nice to see a Brazilian restaurant around there.

A pedestrian's quick guide to locating yourself in the Tri State Area: How to know you're in Connecticut: You hear only a horn or two per hour. How to know you're in New York State: A horn for every intersection. How to know you're in New York City: A horn for every intersection followed by a chorus of others who aren't sure what the original horn was all about, but figured they shouldn't miss out on the action, whatever it was. How to know you're in New Jersey: See New York City, but it's much lower population density, so you're not sure where all the agita is coming from.

You missed alot.. From the moment you started garden city was on the other side of old country road.. And The mineola court houses is actually on the garden city side of old country road ( right about where that garden city cop pulled out onto old country road.. That building with the flower store ( one old country road ) is mostly full of attorneys.. That strip mall is where mineola ends and carle place begins..and that is all part of the same strip mall..you spoke as though are different but it's one big strip mall ( country glen center ) The corner of country glen.. old country road..glen cove road and roosevelt field used to be the 3rd most dangerous intersection in the country... you think it is difficult to cross now...it was many times worse in the 80's ( the entire diner had to be moved about 10 further back off country road..to accommodate the newer much safer intersection Btw..Costco is Not the last strip mall.. About a mile further up is another.. right by 108 or 109 if I recal ( up past or near wantagh parkway) Ahh..been 20 years since you returned..I used to live there 40 years ago You make cars yield to you..the sidewalks aren't the greatest but are ok You changed sides of old country road..afraid and complaining the whole time.. If when you started the video..if you were instead on the garden city side...the sidewalks are far better ( maybe you wouldn't have complained so much..lol ) I wonder if that Boston market still has roaches ( yuck )

I have a couple of online friends who live on other parts of Long Island, and I think either of them would make great guest co-hosts for some of your live walks in that area, much like you've done twice in the City with the lovely and talented Mary Jane. One's named Ginger Bonner (find her on Facebook), who often walks along Jones Beach. Another is named Andrew Herzman, who's also posted videos himself on KZbin and lives in Farmingdale; perhaps he can show you around that area.
