You'll find it a much more satisfying experience to not compare Lagos to the US remembering the fact that Nigeria is STILL a 3rd world country. America is supposed to be the first world power. The main beauty of Nigeria is that black people are Kings and Queens in their own country and come second to no caucasian man. Nigeria is less than 70 years independent from cultural and religious slavery to the British Empire and it will take several generations to grow into the super nation it will become. People know this. Those people are returning to Nigeria and the rest of West Africa to build the future. #BLAXIT

Tonya is correct in her observational comments. It does not matter whether Nigeria is 10 or 70 yrs after independence. There is something lacking in town planning. You just can't have beautiful structures and looking quite expensive with filthy surroundings. It just does not add up. I stay in Europe and have observed the standards they have when it comes to environmental awareness. In the tropic, remember, we have these problems with mosquitos and other bugs and having such filthy surroundings will not help in easing the cases and health hazards arising from these. Take Tanya's critics as a point for a change in our attitude towards our environment.

As far as the running water and messed up gutters with tadpoles, nigeria don't have the laws like the United states to keep the neighborhood looking like the ones in the US, it's a shame. The only place I know that has some sanity is abuja it's like night and day compared to lagos as far as these types of neighborhoods.

Most people that built house and live in Ikoyi are old skool millionaire and billionaire. --- meaning they are not 21st century millionaire or billionaire... unlike Banana island, and Lekki and Eko Atlantic.. What we lack in Nigeria is maintenance! govt lack it and individual citizen also lack it..That's why iKoyi is like that with all these open gutter on the road and side walk. This is your first video I have seen, but I think you're paying much attention to the luxuries or near-perfection sites you are used to in the Western world, which have been in existence and went through different stages of development. There was a time in England here that pit latrines/toilets were in use and bathrooms are built in the backyard or in the garden! When you're in Rome, you learn to do like the Romans! A lot of places, towns, cities, and states are still better than most of the sights you're talking about. Sometimes in life, you just have to do with what circumstances throw at you, nevertheless, you will need to keep an open mind and offer words of advice and not a total disappointment to your followers about your experience in Nigeria, otherwise, the main objectives of why you're there will be defeated! Pick on a subject that interests you, research it, find those knowledgeable in that area, get the local vibes and roll the camera! If your experience is full of negatives, you'll switch people off your channel. The tick for travel vlog is to make your video, as raw as possible, for others to prepare their own journeys much better than you anticipated and experienced. Enjoy your stay and look beyond sentiments or comparisons with the Western world! Good luck!
