This walk was of particular interest to me because my 4x great-grandfather, Joseph Towsey, a stonemason and builder from Blandford Forum was in 1780 given the contract to restore and improve Lulworth Castle and other buildings on the estate. This task was largely finished in about 1783 but whilst lodging in East Lulworth he married a local girl Elizabeth Fooks. Other buildings he worked on in Dorset included Fonthill Abbey, Ammerdown House and Derweston Bridge. A wonderful walk with young Fiver.

Hello Dave and Fiver, imagine my surprise when an AirBnB that we made a family holiday in last year popped up in your video. Yes, the gorgeous cottage you show at 15:22 and to the right at 16:03 is available to rent for holidays. We enjoyed last Easter there. Really nice property inside, with a fantastic log burner that sent me to sleep in the evening after a day hiking across the various footpaths with my dog. Keep up the great work, I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing many of your filmed walks this year. Especially the walk through Rockbourne, past the home of my birthplace. Thanks, Paul from Silverstone

Lovely to catch up with Fiver. He seems quite interested in old churches and doggy ice cream if not blackberries! I think I stayed in a B&B in East Lulworth once and had supper at the Weld Arms. I also recall a nightmare walk along that B road between E Lulworth and an old track I wanted to take back toward Weymouth (trying to avoid the hilly terrain on the ranges). Considering it is recommended as an alternative route for the SWCP if ranges closed I found it a real dangerous road for walkers!! Thanks for the video - do you have to pay to go in the grounds of the castle? I loved the Treves reading!!

Thanks Jean. Pay & Display parking (I think it is either £3 or £4 all day) allows access to the park & woodland walks .... as well as inside St Andrews Church. Entrance to inside the actual castle, castle lawns & St Mary's chapel is extra (£9 I think).
