It's in Nottingham! Not Derbyshire ;) The stone was brought over from Ancaster in Lincolnshire; it is a fine oolitic limestone.

only a few miles from me, looking forward to get there after lock down and seeing all the trees in full leaf! also would be nice in autumn to collect some seeds and nuts from the old trees to grow into little saplings. great video Richard.

Thanks guys, looks a wonderful building. I would be more than happy to spend a few pounds towards the cleaning of the outside of this lovely building. Interested seeing how close you both got to those deer, don't see that everyday, such majestic animals.

It's so funny how these two chuckle brothers don't know where they're at. Bold geezer says Derbyshire then the second dude says Wollaton Hall is 3 miles outside of Nottingham 💀 Wollaton Hall is Nottingham and definitely not Derbyshire 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

What a fabulous building - true Elizabethan grandeur! Those deer are so tame - I assume it is because they are so used to people now.

I do believe the deer with the stubby antlers are Red deer and the ones with the long pointy antlers are Fallow.
@RichardVobes6 жыл бұрын
Oh right - thanks Jen for the clarification!
@pumpkinpatch56 жыл бұрын
All reds, young bucks. Fallows are sleeker, smaller and have dappled coats compared.

Re the geese: I believe that, strictly speaking, they are "Canada" geese. "Canadian" geese would be those living within Canada's borders. Therefore, a Canada goose living in the USA would be an American Canada goose. Canada geese migrate south for the winter. So, I'm not sure if they are Canadian Canada geese that are visiting the US, or American Canada geese that choose to spend their summers north of the border.....;-)

According to their website the park has both red and fallow deer, but some of those antlers don't look like either. E.g. at 2:09 they look more like antelope horns. Maybe these are young stags with simpler antlers, but we need a deer expert to advise!

Cool - thanks fr the comment. :)

They’re young bucks growing possibly first season antlers with a lack of substantial tines. Sometimes they look odd and grow straight upwards like antelope horns.

😮😮😮😍! Absolutely amazing! That manor was incredible. I would have loved to go exploring through its rooms! The deer🦌 were just beautiful & surprisingly chill. Couldn't believe how close they would let you get. I bet it you had a pocket full of corn you prob could of got one to eat out of your hand. Loved the Mallards & Swans. Sorry to see that the Canadian Geese are now invading England too (they have really become a nuisance situation in the US!). Just beautiful grounds all around!!!😘

Wollaton Hall reminds me of Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey was filmed. It’s the same architectural style. The geese you filmed were Canadian geese. They’re native to North America.

It reminded me of the same - an amazing place, although somewhat sterile now in some ways.
