Inshore saltwater kayaker here. I'm very interested in one of these. Here's some pros / cons based on the video I watched. Pros: Peddle drive Color (love the camo pattern) Handles Big rear tank well. Cons: No reverse Screw hatch Flex in deck when tightening the seat. Seat needs improving. Too short; I'd like to see a 13+ ft model. Perhaps a longer bow with a little more flare. Good luck and please update your web page with specs and purchasing options.

My son sent me a link to this. Looks pretty sweet. As I told my son, now that I know enough about fishing kayaks to have an opinion, this one looks like it has the features and set up I would look for in an ideal kayak. No rear hatch, roomy deck and hatch access in front of, not under, the seat. Ability to move seat forward and aft plus up for just a couple key points. Really great idea on the rudder to retract when striking an opstacle.

Robert make sure guys test these drives a lot more than the Pelican kayaks. The Pelican drives are breaking masts and sprockets. I really would like to see these kayaks succeed where the Pelican hasn’t. They just recalled all the Pelican catch 130 HD kayaks for issues with the rudder. Apparently the rivets they used are breaking and water is leaking into the hull through the hole. They have a repair for it but its gonna smear their image on that kayak. Good luck man! I really hope you guys do a great job.

For hot South Florida salt water fishing we need colors that are light and reflective so that the kayak does not get so hot it can burn your hands. Also, David Andrews, head of the Kayak Fishing Club of the Palm Beaches, tested colors that are most visible from power boaters so they (power boaters) will see us in our kayaks on the water. The three colors that are the safest are orange, yellow, and lime green, and I would only want a kayak in one of those colors.

I’m curious about the Lightning strike so hopefully KZbinrs can start posting some reviews for us. Buying the first gen of any product is risky, even the Pelican Peddle drive has had a recall on the drive system. Some of my concerns about the lightning strike (from photos) is: (1) drive durability (2) does drive have a reverse (3) hull design: (3A) front handle looks like it would split wakes and send water into your boat (3B) front hatch - looks like any water that gets onto it would be channeled into the boat instead of off the sides (3C) looks like it would ride low in the back (w/o gear). Loaded, it looks like is balance would be way off. (3D) material thickness? Are there replaceable skid plates? (4) does it incorporate any tackle box slots? (5) rod holding area looks unstable (7) is there an area built in for installing a transducer?

Looking at the video I see a few things that I’d like to see improved. The flat seat looks uncomfortable. When you tightened it to the deck the floor flexed like 2-3” hopefully that’s just preproduction. Also twist lock hatches are prone to sticking and leaking. Just some constructive feedback. As a big Feelfree fan (and current Field & Stream Shadow Caster owner made by the same manufacturer), I'm definitely digging the design of this kayak. Honestly, the eventual MSRP is a little up there, though. $1750 (not including shipping) just isn't that different from the numerous other pedal kayaks on the market, and most of those are well known brands that have had an industry presence for years, and already have everything ironed out (and include reverse). Also as a Freefree fan, I just can't use a lawnchair style seat -- they're just not as comfortable or as adjustable. As I mentioned in another comment, that screw center hatch is a bad, archaic design that's going to swell and stick in any type of moderate heat. A hinged hatch is only about $10 (and I'm sure it's cheaper in bulk). Overall, very good job! You definitely rained on the Pelican 130 Hydrive parade, and easily surpassed it in features and design.

Compass $1950, Perc Pilot $1799, JK FD Cruise $2200 and Coosa $2999, Topwater PDL $2000. This is the market for pedaling with budget concerns. Others range is 2500 to 3500+. A lot of comments about it not being that cheap. Can't even get a used hobie for that cheap where I live.

Will you guys ever make a smaller model? Like a 10 footer

If a Strike model that didn't exceed 11'6" was available (with the earlybird pricing :) ), I'd probably order one for my wife. Although I want one, the current 12'6" length will not work in the area I have for storage.

When is the standard launch? If it's already launched, where can I buy? I seen the Indiegogo site, but it looks like all buying options are inactive.

How to become a protected territory dealer? I’ve talked w the “Bigs” and didn’t care for their arrogance. Thank you and videos are really strong. Jamie, great work. Merry Christmas!! Gig ‘em!!

Still liking this kayak, and I'm not a fan of pedal/fin rigs, so it got my attention :) . Maybe it's just a prototype (minor) thing, but I'd prefer if the paddle-keep bungee(s) retracted to a flat position when not in use, and not remain as a large loop protruding out from the side, which imo is wtg to get snagged by something. Scupper plugs provided? Leash & padeye to secure the pedal drive? Hull thickness? Is the front hatch water-tight, or just water-resistant? Hobie's new 2019 rig is currently offering a gasket backfit for those front hatches due to leakage in surf passage/rough waters...from what I've seen in videos. Warranty on the hull, fin drive, etc? Shipping costs? Flat rate or locaion based? Oh, and imo you can't beat the current pricing for the Early Bird or Strike Essentials package specials. I paid $1259 (Jul 2017) for my Lure 11.5 (with seat only), and have spent an amount of $$ adding the rudder kit, anchor trolley, paddle, pfd, camera booms, and other track mounted accessories. Good job on the Strike! 👍

I really wish this was out before I purchased my Wavewalk a few years ago. I get good use out of my WW but this would definitely be less fatiguing.

What kind of speed can you get out of it? The tri-hull design is very stable but it sacrifices speed. I just sold my Bonafide for that reason. But I’m wondering if the pedal drive will be able to compensate for that.
