We visited Clacton on day trips during the last summer before the lockdown. The pier, beach, and gardens were all good. However, the Town Centre was a tip with drunks, druggies and beggars congregated in and around the High Street, and good restaurants and quality shops were few and far between. These days there is more to a day, or longer, at the Seaside than Fish n Chips, Burgers, and tatty gift shops. Those charged with regenerating Clacton should take a trip to Brighton to see how it's done.

Unfortunately we have two major points where drug addicts and alcoholics gather… one is supposed to be called Christmas Tree Island - we call it STRONGBOW SQUARE. The other one doesn’t have an official name but is known as Kronenberg Korna! The police just turn a blind eye to the problem, and in the main these ppl are harmless - except the the entrance to our flats is used as a local urinal/toilet - yes number 2s have been found! It’s also a ‘brilliant’ place to ‘Jack up.’ We regularly have to clean the alley of all sorts, needles, alcohol bottles, urine and number 2s!

I went last week and i used to go when i was young. I can see why people voted it the worst. The town centre is crap and pound shops and dodgy people. The food in the places we ate in were not great. The pier was ok actually. The beach is nice but most places are more developed and more to do. You can easily do everything in one day in Clacton. It needs work and regeneration. It is worth investing in the infrastructure. I have wonderful memories of when i was younger. Nightlife isnt the greatest.

After seeing this I thought I'd have a day out in Clacton. All in all it was pretty good on the pier and seafront and I enjoyed the gardens which I probably would have missed. I did find the town centre quite run down and scruffy and they obviously have a problem with seagull deposits everywhere. But overall no worse or better than any other faded victorian seaside resort.
@antispindr86132 жыл бұрын
Then again, are not the Seafront Gardens looking a bit tatty and in need of a make over? While the formal garden is colourful, does it not look like it is set in 1822? As for the bushes and planting in the informal garden, do they not need thinning to open up a link between the town and cliffs?

It does seem to have improved a bit. Came here for the Clacton Hockey Festival in the 80s and 90s which was a lot of fun. Sadly, I see it was scrapped back in 2001. Remember a big yellow track rollercoaster in the 80s.

I live in Clacton. Wasn't expecting to see this pop up on my KZbin 😂 as for the two wheels. You have one at the Pavilion Park and one at the pier. Both owned by different people who are competing with eachother

Another great & fantastic video of Clacton-on-Sea Seafront Tour - Voted WORST rated seaside resort? i once for a day trip on the train!.💕💕

Yes it's got some great beaches too

There are so many other seaside towns that deserve that title, before Clacton does. The investment on the pier and pavillion over the last decade has made them both great attractions. Cleethorpes or Mablethorpe for example, deserve that title before Clacton.

@@WalkWithMeTim my parents are from Clacton, so I've got lots of happy memories there visiting grandparents in summer holidays etc, so maybe I'm being biased 😂😂
@DirtDiggersUK3 жыл бұрын
Using "worst seaside resort" is highly commendable for a keyword/clickbait approach to your video. Though during your entire vlog, you thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps a more self found description would be much more appropriate. I think deep down inside you feel that you really should edit the title to describe how you really feel about it, not letting others decide if it is "worst". Great vid, very smooth and flowing. thumbs upped & just subbed :)

lol thanks however it was not click bate as was in a recent WHICH survey and I wanted to highlight that its not .. hence the question mark

I have been there between the mid 70s and early 90s and always enjoyed it. I was shocked when I saw how it was rated. But to be honest it's still the nice place that I remember. Thx for sharing and cheers from Cologne.

I live near clacton and am amazed it got voted the worst. As you can see the pier, beach and gardens are lovely. And it's always absolutely packed in the summer, so someone must like the place lol.

clacton is amazing, i went to sray there not long ago, its just the beach water, whenever it is windy, or rains the water turns a sort of orange-yellow colour, that is what i experienced, but the funfair is honestly pretty good overall and i think you should go visit it!

Being from Colchester, I've spent a lot of time here. The place is rough if you wander too far from the seafront. It's good enough, but I wouldn't want to spend a night out here lol

We come to Clacton every year - the seafront is beautiful and the pier is fantastic, it feels like you slowly walk through its history as you walk from the newly refurbished arcade and rides to the old buildings at the very back.
@jlewis9973 жыл бұрын
At least its still got the railway station. Some seaside places in Norfolk probably never recovered after losing their rail line back in the beeching cuts
