implant In today’s video I dive in and take a look to see if Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo really is as average as it’s reputation suggests. Enjoy!

I played this games as a kid, and I liked it well enough. I thought it was a slightly above average game. It's only going back with my older mindset that the charm of the game actually got me to classify it as good. I'm glad to someone give it a good, but fair, review. I've never even seen it mentioned before.

Oh, those crazy British cartoons! Wallace and Gromit, those are great films...Probably the best part about this game is how clever the gimmicks in each level look, like the many insane-looking obstacles that challenge the player to dodge them, or how you have to protect Archie in the ice levels. I also really like how true to the film series Wallace and Gromit themselves look, like in the intro cutscene, when Wallace speaks his mouth moves in the same choppy manner as in the claymation movies. And, of course, I just love the villain Feathers McGraw, just because he's from my favorite movie, _The Wrong Trousers_ ! Jolly good show, mate!

In a way, this kind feels like a "lost" N64 game, which makes me wonder if the middling reviews have to do with the fact that, at the time people were moving away from games like this.

Funny, I had been looking into several license-based 3D platformers on GameCube (this included), and I was surprised to find how many of them didn't end up as bad as initially thought at first glance, even though it seemed like they easily could have been. They turned out to be worthy of at least one playthrough, at least to me. I suppose I'll list some while I'm talking about the subject in case you're interested: Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt Disney/Pixar Ratatouille Ice Age 2: The Meltdown Looney Tunes: Back in Action Madagascar Over the Hedge Ratatouille Scooby-Doo! Unmasked Taz: Wanted The Haunted Mansion

Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo its my favorite game and i played so much when i was a kid and today i have the lucky to have this game to my ps2 and somethigs i play. And this game have a exellent gameplay, the exelent maps and so much incredible and criative thigs!! The unic problem is the jump sense, is so so buged, but the rest is so incredible!! I think it was very underrated. A opnion fan of this incredible game!!

Great review! I never knew this game existed and I love 3D platformers. It's a genre that you don't see to much anymore and I think that is a big missed opportunity. Sadly this game is not compatible with the Xbox 360 but I did just pick it up for the Gamecube to play via my Nintendo Wii. Keep up the great work!

@MrWambo19967 жыл бұрын
It is widescreen btw :) But the lighting seems off in many places with my PAL-version. I find it so frustrating when people upload footage of 6th generation games in 4:3 even when there is widescreen mode available. They are probably just assuming that wasn't a thing back then :) Gets even better when they are stretching their 4:3 footage to make it fit the screen :D

I remember being stuck for ages in the volcano level as a kid because of not knowing about the superjump. Once I got past that though it was clear sailing. I have more nostalgic feelings towards Project Zoo though since I played it so much.

@@implantgames Dude funny story about this game. I actually meant to get it at Blockbuster as a kid because I grew up on Wallace and Gromit. But the dude there insisted to my mom that she get me Kingdom Hearts 1 instead. So she did. And that game is a classic to this day. But I obviously still wanted W&GPZ so I got it as well and I don't regret it obviously cos this game is dear to my heart.

Great review! I only rented this game so never beat it but I loved the charm that it brought. It really feels like I am playing through a Wallace and Gromit episode with all of its silly jokes and bad puns. The game itself is decent but I always wanted more from it. More things to collect, more levels, more upgrades which honestly is sometimes a good thing to feel. The game was good enough that I liked it and wanted to spend more time in the game world, the game is just too short!
@GavinsBazaar3132 жыл бұрын
The developers were rushed. Older builds and promos showed some mechanics and levels were scrapped tommeet the deadline, and the final level had to be rushed too, which is why theres a ton of dead ends and places where zoo tokens/secret levels would have been placed.

Nice review and I agree with you. I'm personally a big fan of Wallace and Gromit and back in the days this game was a must-buy just because it was a Wallace and Gromit game for PS2. Okay, it's not amazing by any means (controls are slightly unresponsive, clunky camera, lack of polish in some areas…) but it's still a decent game and for a licensed platformer it's definitely above average.Some suggestions:How bad is Disney's PK: Out of the Shadows?Is Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights underrated?

Great video Kris, good to see you playing a good, fun game again - instead of the tedious stuff in Rayman! I find it always kind of sad to hear a good game getting critiqued in the past for being an average, boring platformer, when it was actually just the "platformer fatigue" of the time.

I definitely still enjoy your review of platformers from a bygone era. At any chance, are you going to review both Rayman 2 & 3 to complete the trilogy? In the case that you are reviewing Rayman 2, take note that there are fundamental differences between the different console versions, so be sure to pick the right versions you think you'll enjoy the most.
@implantgames7 жыл бұрын
I own Rayman 2 on the PSX and N64. I've been thinking about giving the N64 a play-through but I know every comment would be "you should have reviewed the DC/PS2 version." Not sure how to tackle it yet... Rayman 3 is also sitting on the shelf waiting for me as well :)

I really love how wholesome this game is. It's calming. Also I noticed an ironic mistake. at 20:33 Wallace says "We're up to our knees in trouble you know and no mistake." whereas the subtitles say "in trouble now". He says "and no mistake" and that sentence has a mistake in how it's presented visually. My favourite level is the snow level because I like how it looks. I remember eating Hula Hoops and playing this game as a kid.
