Thank you for taking the time to put the Capone through the wringer. I appreciate the thoughtful and thorough review! One quick note on our money clip hardware: Indeed it is a premium spring bar however it does still screw together. I mention this because sometimes people unscrew their spring bars and it dramatically reduces the tension. For anyone who picks up a Capone: The money clip ought to hold even a single bill firmly in place. If the clip isn't holding it well then you need to tighten together the two pieces of the spring bar to get the maximum tension. Thanks again for supporting us, Mark. It means a lot. -Phil

You should do a difference of Michel leather clip wallet vs capone clip wallet. They got the same score, almost the same width with cards and money in them. They are almost the same wallet.

I just replaced my Anson Calder Card Wallet with the cash pocket with a Capone. I haven’t had a problem with the money clip. I did receive excellent customer service from Ashland Leather. The only issue I have is caused by me. Sometimes I carry my phone and wallet in the same pocket. The phone will slide inside the wallet and crumpled up my money.

So... the clip getting the way of card access is a problem or isn't? I didn't 100% follow that part. It seemed you said at least the clip positioning makes it so the cash isn't difficult, but card access is still impeded (?) Comparing the Mitchell -- where since the cards are pulled out of the top, card acess isn't at all a problem, for example. But this one has it arranged so internal cards won't fall out if the inner pockets are stretched. It's an interesting little comparison. I like that this one is a bit smaller... and of courser if you're willing to pay for it, there are all those shell options that Ashland always offers.

It's a problem or it isn't depending on whether or not you think it would be for you. That's how reviews work. You can use your own judgment on whether or not the product would fit into your life, regardless of what the reviewer says.

This was the latest one I got from them for my collection in Western print Shell Cordovan. Truly epic wallet BUT the clip itself is not. I agree with Ahmed below, the MMCW clip is how it should be done. IF the Capone had a clip like the MMCW then it would be the boss. 😃👍🏻

Agreed, a little more design work in coming up with a truly unique clip makes these types of wallets stand out. I have a review on the Distilunion Wally 5.0 and they have a custom money clip, it just makes the wallets pop.

@@BigTwinkle - yes for sure it does. I used mine for years with the larger notes. It’s a superb wallet. Just remember that it is leather, so how you start with the cards is how it will stretch out. In one of the upper back pockets I had a work door card which stretched that pocket out, so now I have to fill it with a few cards so they don’t fall out. Am thinking of getting a new one myself! 👍🏻🙂 Use the hell out of it and enjoy!

I have an almost identical wallet to this. It's not horween leather, it's "crazy horse" leather and I paid just £16 for it online. It does'nt actually have a brand name, but I love it.

It will patina beautifully and the mark was due to me. But yes leather will mark and wear over time, that’s the beauty of leather.

Outside of the larger Euro and Yen notes, it fits most common currencies. Meaning they're all the same height of USD or shorter.

The clip is definitely the weakest link on any quality handmade leather wallet. The flexible clip conforms best which is what I use in our Hunchback Leather money clip wallet.

Not a fan of their machine stitching. I’ve had several wallets from them and I carry just 3-4 cards and a few slips of cash. Without fail, all my wallets have popped a stitch and had to be mailed back.

Bummer to hear that. It is rare but we do sometimes have the thread pop out from the 2-3 extra back stitches.
