An 1/8 ounce of tungsten is the same weight as an 1/8 ounce of lead.

Correct, but Tungsten is more dense making an 1/8 oz Tungsten Jig 30% smaller than 1/8 oz in lead, allowing it to cut through the water with less drag and fall faster, while also having superior sensitivity. Helps for feeling light bites, feeling bottom composition and structure, and to keep your bait in the strike zone when fishing in wind or current, or to get down to fish faster when sharp shooting with forward facing sonar.
