I had nice memories of this Mall. I remember having my car done at Tires Plus and waiting at the Mall. Loved those massage chairs. Walden Books was my favorite retailer there. I love bookstores. Then during early mornings, you'd see senior citizens taking a walking route around the Mall. Nice food court, too. I remember that Massage Parlor being raided for suspicious activity.

Good job mentioning this was originally an "open air" plaza. Most people don't know that. That is the reason for the elevation change on the interior. Something else many people didn't know is Boscov's roof top parking lot. It was fun to park there, but the elevator from the roof to the interior was hella sketchy.

An awesome video, Wallie! 👍👍👍👍 One of my sisters lived in Harrisburg, PA for 15 years. In the very early 1990s I went to Harrisburg to visit with my sister and I went to the Colonial Park Mall while visiting my sister. I really liked the Colonial Park Mall and the mall was really thriving at the time I was visiting my sister. My sister doesn't live in Harrisburg, PA anymore. She resides up in northern Maine.

Been following you for a long time Wallie and I'll say this, this is getting pretty scary the rate all these malls are closing I fear by 2030 we won't have any malls left to go to and that would be a darn shame.

I'm wondering if the same company that owns this mall owned the chapel hill mall in akron ohio too many similar things such as not paying the utilities and letting the properties run to the ground

Im in central PA and we pretty much only have Logan Valley mall (Altoona) and then there's Nittany Mall (state college) which nittany mall might as well be closed down as it has next to nothing. Sadly we lost Lycoming mall ( muncy) awhile back but had fond memories of it .

It was such a a nice mall. No one shops at them anymore. Park City in Lancaster still has traffic but even it is going to be redeveloped as a mixed use property. Strange to think of a time when there weren't malls. They decimated city centers and now they're all going to die as well.

Boscov's is the best department store ever. They're remodeling the one in Camp Hill, it's busy often. I'm there probably once a month.

I was never a big fan of the Colonial Park Mall. I used to frequent the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill. I remember Colonial Park being run down at one point and then they revamped it and it really looked nice. But good looks only get you so far with crappy owners/management.

Yep malls never learned how to compete with online stores. That's what happens when you refuse to evolve and adapt. You fade away.

The only mall left in the Harrisburg area is the Capital City mall. That one is oddly still bustling with a packed parking lot during peak hours. The area as a whole is growing more than almost every other part of the state. It's just malls are a dying breed that can't sustain themselves in the current environment. They never adapted and evolved.
@SliderFury14 ай бұрын
Couldn't have said it better, came here to talk about the Capital City Mall. Place is a madhouse on weekends and around the holidays, it's nice to see. We don't need multiple gigantic malls anymore but a few smaller ones with good layouts and the right selection of stores and restaurants will continue to do well.

States like Pennsylvania has turned to crap. Nothing in this state no more. The Harrisburg East Mall they are tearing down. Just put a theater their like 8 years ago and now tearing it all down. It’s a shame. I had good times in these malls in high school now gone. Just like all the drive in theaters. You see all these other countries had such beautiful malls and we have squat. Probably from inflation or mismanagement.
@bherber2 ай бұрын
Lol... Yeah that place is sad. There used to be a Buffalo Wild Wings until recently which is now some night club which is not safe. Mostly blacks and Hispanics from Allison Hill going there. I've had Uber drivers say they'll refuse to pick anyone up from there late at night. No more Sears. Used to get oil changes and tires there.
