I have a 600 with 2500hrs and a 700 with 1200. New solid state coil on the 600 because a bushingl from the pull start mount from the last person that took it apart got wedged in and out of the magneto/coil.

I recall what forced me to purchase an Stihl-600. My neighbor had a similar machine. I owned an corded electric leaf-blower, still own it. I was blowing leaves with it and becoming frustrated because the blower lacked power. It was moving leaves, but not enough and not quickly enough. I was cursing expletives when I turned around and noticed my neighbour standing behind me. He was laughing. He starts his blower, easily and I mean easily moves the same leaves as he continued to laugh at my misfortune. I decided then and there to purchase an Stihl-600. Love it as it laughs at the leaves rather than my neighbour laughing at me. Easily dispatches the leaves making my labour much easier and quicker. Alas, now I am having difficulties.

Just right now tested my Stihl-600. I continue to have a strange problem. It works fine, until I need to shut it down to do something. When I return to start it again, it never starts. If I put it away after it fails to start, I pull it out the next day to start it. Starts right up, I use it again, shut it off then attempt to start it again. Nothing. Interestingly, it is hotter than usual. The Stihl has been stored every winter. Never ran into this problem last season. I may have to take it in for repairs.

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. kzbin.infoUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

Bloody hell, my Stihl-600 looks brand-new by comparison, yet it is 4 years old. Literally mint condition, yet fails to start again after I use it for awhile. It does feel unusually hot. Starts right up again the next day, as if cooling-down helped it to work again. Yet, this was never a problem before which is why I believe something is causing it to overheat.

What about the opposite of the seizing problem, where the wrist pin bushing (instead of a needle bearing like on smaller engine models) gets loose and the piston starts knocking and galling the cylinder?

I purchased my BR600 around 2005. I've had two issues with it. The first, and most annoying....it will not use a full tank of fuel before shutting down. It will leave about a third of a tank. I need to tip the machine to get the fill opening on the tank to its highest level and fill it to the top to get decent run time. I've had it to two dealers and they haven;t been able to fix the problem. Maybe you could offer your opinion on that. The second issue was a crank bearing fail. I'm not sure why this happened...I always use a premium brand oil. The same oil I use for all my Two stroke and 4-mix engines with no issues. My main issue with the crank bearing is that it can't be purchased separately. It would an inexpensive fix if it was. I replaced the crank assembly along with a few other parts (because it was apart) and it has been running as good or better than new since. My research on the BR700 showed that it has different exhaust valves than the BR600. I'm not sure if that's just a part number issue or if they really are different....considering that they have the same engines. I did notice that the valve train was revised on the BR600 when I rebuilt mine. Maybe you could comment on that. Other than the plastic at the exhaust melting.....I haven't had any of the issues you've mentioned. Thank you for the video.

Had the same problem on my BR600.. It's the tank vent. Replace it and it will fix the problem. Use only a Stihl part
@wallysworkin8232 жыл бұрын
Do you have a single fuel filter in the tank? Early models had a single but the newer ones have a dual filter which helps pull fuel from both sides of the tank. I have seen several crank bearings failures, some were just part failures. Unfortunately the crank needs to be replaced and it’s not cheap. I’m not aware of a change in exhaust valves them selves, I would need to look that up. There was a change in the cams after your blower. The metal plate on the back of the cam would come off and cause damage. Good to see your still running an old unit, take care of it and it will run for a long time.
@victormarinelli56602 жыл бұрын
I would think that the dealers would have addressed the vent on the tank...but...you never know. Its been years since I've looked into the problem...I may have replaced the vent myself. The machine runs perfectly to that point....another reason why I don't believe it's a vent issue. Also...if I shake the machine when it begins to stumble...it will continue to run for a period of time. Suggesting that it's a fuel pickup issue. I believe my unit has a single fuel pickup design. I'll look into that. Thank you for the responses. I appreciate it very much.

@@victormarinelli5660 Mine is the newer dual fuel filter design. Which I replace them both when experiencing the 1/2 tank tank no fuel problem. Next, when I replaced the vent, problem solved.

@@snakeman48 Thank you Snakeman I don't remember if I replaced the vent and I don't believe either of the dealers did. As I mentioned...I would think that the vent would be one of the priority check points for a dealer. At this point, I'll probably replace the vent and add the additional pickup line. Another person commented about the vent....apparently, it's an issue. Thank you for your help.. much appreciated.

@wallysworkin8232 жыл бұрын
See how it runs with the new fuel filter, it may just need a carb adjustment also. If you don’t use it on a regular basis it may need a carb overhaul. If it slowly looses power and dies it’s usually fuel system related, if it shuts off like you hit the kill switch it could be a coil problem.

What is "good gas"? You mention what "good oil" is, but not the gasoline. Please clarify (octane level, age, etc.).
@wallysworkin8237 ай бұрын
Depending on what you have in your area, We recommend at least 91-92 octane. Or if you use it for home I really like the VP and Aspen non ethanol can fuels.

The wrist pin has a brass bushing instead of a needle bearing… no one knows why they did that.

What is the tool you use for cleaning the exhaust valve without taking the engine apart?

When I get back in the shop next week I'll see if I can find the part number.
@wallysworkin8232 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, had a hard time finding any numbers. Stihl uses the 3M Cross Buff. You can add different length arbor lengths. You can get everything from 3M.

MY ADVICE DONT BE CHEEP ALWAYS USE THE STHIL OIL AND YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ANY PROBLEMS
@laurapalmerTDGE Жыл бұрын
Aspen blue jug or the Stihl grey jug, alkylate fuel, with Saber oil. It gives you better performance, better throttle response, lifetime bearings, clean exhaust, temperature control, etc.

I have the BR - 600 thats 13 yrs old which has been great. Keep them clean helps with the life span. Of course do preventative maintenance is critical.

@@luvingfully Ive had mine for either 8 or 10 years now and Its been trouble free. I used it around the house and a couple side jobs so it doesn't have a ton of use on it maybe about 100 hours tops if that. I only used stihl platinum oil and for the last 2-3 years amsoil saber.
