Yeah it's effing absurd that it works like that and is _allowed_ by Walmart to work like that. Extremely shady. They're so desperate to compete with Amazon that they're allowing hordes of scammers to use their platform without even checking and verifying the legitimacy until they get enough customer complaints.

This makes me so happy faith in humanity restored. I don’t buy anything from Walmart like this, and was betting that the first vid was a scam. And also to say it’s criminal is accurate not over exaggerated. It’s an out right lie to the customer and Walmart is basically catering to it by not curating their listings. It could change but I doubt it, because going to a Walmart now is basically live action wish shopping.

IDK man it looks the same to me, an 8 year old consumer quad core, a gt 1030, 512gb SSD, used 1tb HDD, and I presume 16gb of RAM... These guys can say what they want about the effort put into giving that PC their unique spin aesthetically when reworking it, but is it really truly any different from their listing that got hijacked? Did we think or ask about their thermal paste, or check the date on their hard drive? Nope, because they delivered something that looked like how it was listed, they gave you the eye candy, but we don't really know if they did a better job or if it just looks like they did. Hijacking their listing is super messed up especially when what comes looks nothing like what was advertised, and that's gonna upset people, but this whole making an old office desktop look new thing is putting lipstick on a pig.

Thanks for making this video. The same thing happened to me earlier this year. Purchased a refurbished gaming PC from WalMart and a computer with an entirely different case arrived from SJ Computers. I went round-and-round with them just to get them to admit that what was shipped to me was not the computer listed on-line that I bought. I had SKUs and screen-shots of everything as proof. In the end, someone finally agreed that the computer had been mis-represented, and said that they would make it right, but with a different case. I thought: how is it possible that WalMart can sell a computer and just throw a picture out there for a case that doesn't exist? I had grown weary of the entire process, and dealing with these anonymous, shady, sellers, so I finally just conceded, and kept the computer, rather than deal with these people. Lesson learned: I will *never* buy either a refurbished or new computer from WalMart ever again

It's great to see a Company that saw this problem and wasn't even there problem. Hurting there business then stepping in to fix this problem. I give them a lot of respect not many companies would do that. Also I'm not a big fan of RGB on computers anymore. It was played out from the late 90s into the 2000s as we use to mod everything. However I'm a big fan of taking older computers and breathing new life back into them with decal stickers and even RGB lighting as well as more memory and hard drives. I myself would love to see more videos like this.

What is infuriating is how hard it is to shop Walmart, Amazon, or any place like that. From $768-$784 price range of "gaming computer", there is 11 pages of items, of which the PC in question is but one. You see the same darn thing over and over and over, with little, if any, variation. I have no idea how anyone that takes pride in their work is to compete in that sort of environment, but best of luck to Periphio on that.

Yup. I've been on the original big platform and had people just steal our images and literally copy/paste our text. Because our email was in our text, victims would email us about problems with the item they received from the thief. We'd scour our records and realize that they didn't purchase from us at all and have to explain it to the poor, unsuspecting victim. The problem is that those marketplaces always devolve to the point that it's simply not worth it. If someone sees that you're making a nickel, 100 people will copy you to make four cents, then three. Then there's always the noobs who you realize are undercutting you at a loss - they're actually losing money even if they don't know it. And so any margin is ruined for everybody. At some point, it's just not worth it....
@bh0llar702 Жыл бұрын
this would be a great investigative piece on the channel to go more in depth on. So basically, when the buyer clicks on a pc and selects a different variation, graphics card, cpu, etc instead of their pc it takes them to a competitor with the same pic of their pc. they mistakenly buy the competitors pc
@LatitudeSky Жыл бұрын
Very cool to see them set the record straight and what they are making is a true value-add. Most VARs never go anywhere near this effort. Hats off to them for doing it, for standing up for themselves, and for PCBros for giving them a chance to come on. Technically these are competitors but clearly it makes a ton of sense to cooperate and get the word out. I knew about Amazon's comingling fraud problem. Amazon has shipped me counterfeit merch serveral times because they don't validate anything. If you say your fake is really and truly the same item, they trust it and sell it. Walmart seems to be the same. Sad. But not shocking.

Working the carbon fibre pattern vinyl can be tricky at first. A big part is have it warm, just above room temperature, (a hairdryer or low heat heatgun when you're going round corners also) which makes it more pliable and to get clean cuts/edges I use a scalpel and metal rulers. Make sure the suface is as smooth as possible using glass/sandpaper, you want no bumps or dips, filling dips/dents with epoxy putty can be done if you're used to it but it will also need to be smoothed down flush with the surface. Cleaning the surfaces first with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol helps as well since bubbles can partly be caused by dust particles getting trapped. When applying large areas start at one edge, detach about a centimeter (about 1/4 - 1/2 inch) of the backing, place along the chosen end firmly then use a medium firm sponge to flatten the vinyl while teasing the backing off the vinyl in a slow steady way all in one direction. Once one area is done you can cut and fold over edges quite easily to neaten up. I used to make custom vaping devices about ten years back and many used the same vinyl as a skin since it's fairly tough and gives a slightly grippy texture without being rough or spongy feeling. I wasn't great at it but was basically working on it on at my regular computer desk not a workshop area and not too frequently. Practice is of course a big thing getting it right.

TBH it's a criminal that someone can hijack a listing and damage original seller's reputation while also delivering a product that is different from the listing. There shouldn't be an option for other sellers to use someone else's listings. If listing shows a custom case I want that custom case and the PC I paid for. If I get different PC then I won't be happy even if it is a upgrade because it's not the product I paid for.

When I buy a pc I am buying it specifically for the aesthetic and a way to get a cheaper GPU when prices are high. I can always upgrade a PC I bought if I want to keep the case, but having to buy a new case would be an unnecessary expense if the original listed one was what I wanted to begin with.
