To clarify: In the description, these items may be marked as a different metal (e.g., 'iron'), but they are being sold as legal tender coins minted and issued by their respective governments. Producing counterfeit U.S. and Canadian currency is a federal crime and strictly illegal. Counterfeit coins undermine collectors, investors, and the integrity of the market as a whole. For those commenting that it’s not Walmart but third-party sellers: remember that Walmart ALLOWS these companies to sell these products on their website. Regardless of whether it’s Walmart directly selling them or not, these products are being sold on their platform. Walmart should do better to prevent these sellers from operating on their site.

Walmart is effectively being complicit in consumers buying counterfeit silver by allowing these advertisements for sale on their website. As you said, the end victim might not be the individual who orders from Walmart either. These imitations could be resold for spot price to unsuspecting buyers after they are received from Walmart. That's like buying a toy truck that looks like the full size for $20 and then being upset when they discover it's a toy. Yes, shame on Walmart for not being more transparent, calling something a coin when it's not even a round or real 99.9% silver, but read the whole advertisement for what you are buying and it's pretty clear as to what you're buying. At least they aren't paying the price for the real item but a much, much lower price.

Worked with a guy whom worked in a production facility for one of the major cosmetic companies in the blending and production line department. Walmart tells manufacturers how much they will pay for a product, which is generally less than it costs to manufacture the item. They tell the manufacturer it's a deal breaker if they can't meet the ridiculous number, let the manufacturer work out how to make it happen and pretend they don't know anything about why the product is of lower quality than the same product at different stores, with a label that looks identical. This is undoubtedly an illustration of that corporate corruption. Consumption based capitalism is broken.

I only buy from "pro sellers" who are legitimate online dealers, like Apmex (I don't buy from Apmex; I only mention them because you did.) Many times, there are prices that are better than what they offer on their own sites. But also, there needs to be some caveat emptor on the side of the buyer. A New gold site is In progress to launch for peer to peer trading for metals. Gold silver swap. It’s only at sign up right now. It’s not complete. But the collectibles with premiums will be there and product apparently mediated by a well known dealer.

Like most large companies, the moral compass is thrown away for the almighty dollar! Got scammed by a third party for kitchen supplies and Walmart will do nothing about it, they tell you to deal with the third party, who will not even respond after they have your money.

It may be the Canadian Mint itself that is negligent in protecting it's product and brand, not Walmart or the fly-by-night manufacturer(s). The Canadian Mint has to get these asses into court ASAP.

I would never buy something like this from Walmart when there are dozens of companies that professionally sell noting but bullion and coins.

Many of those same companies are the ones selling bullion through Walmart.
