Yeah years ago they came from australia with long tongs to do it over the fire, and called jaffle irons. Then evolved to electric jaffle makers. We use a lot thinner bread and as has been said you always butter the outside. Then theres ,tuna, chopped onion and some cheese(bit longer cook) or my invention -banana,cheese and a dab of vegemite. Sounds weird but works. Its hard not to overstuff ..

I have had the Ninja Chopper for about three years now, and love it. It works so quickly, it’s easy to clean, works well for hard items, as well as for blending up soft items, such as cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and lemon, to make a dessert. Mine came with my Ninja 5 In One Grill. The sandwich maker, while it made the bread a bit too flattened, it worked quickly, evenly toasted the bread, and the cheese was nicely melted. The most impressive thing about it was that you did not need to spread butter or even mayonnaise on the bread beforehand. Yet, the sandwich came out looking very appealing. The popcorn bowl was a hit for me…efficient and mess free. Those chopping boards are not worthwhile. I bought them once, and soon enough they started to get cracks, stained greatly, especially in the cut marks, and for chopping extra hard foods such as carrots, they were not the greatest. As compared to a decent wooden board, the food tended to roll around too much while chopping. The bacon cooking rack was a bit of a waste of money, I feel. It made a good mess, and took a bit too long to cook the bacon. It is easier to just lay bacon strips down on a piece of parchment paper, on a tray, and either cook it in the microwave or oven. To prevent added mess, cover the top with another piece of parchment paper. Also, I could see it being just another item taken up needed space in a cupboard. Your microwave is powerful, so I did expect it to cook a bit faster. It looks like your local Walmart is very well stocked with reasonably priced items to choose from. Thanks for reviewing these items. 😊

I have a sandwich maker, we use it for grilled cheese, pizza pocket sandwiches, pancakes, cake batter, biscuit dough and much more. I must mention the sandwich maker I have was made in the 80's and still works just fine. I had the cutting mats and after about a week of use it was so cut up it was useless and had to be thrown out. I am the type of person that doesn't buy anything new unless the old one breaks. I have the same chopper/food processor I have had to almost 20 years. I had a thick plastic cutting board I bought in the early 90's Last year my nephew came to stay with us for a few weeks, I have a gas stove.. he set my cutting board on top of a hot burner and my cutting board become part of my stove top. It melted enough to sink down onto the burner and fused with it. I had to have my son take it out side and heat it with a cutting torch to get it off. I was upset about losing my cutting board but I got a nice new one for Christmas from my Nephew.

Pound stores opened in the UK a couple of decades ago. With inflation, it is hard to find anything that works these days for a pound. You can also find products that cost 45p in Tesco's. A few of the better shops have introduced 2 and 3 pound areas, but by rounding the price, they are not necessarily cheaper.

@@englishatheart Us engineers have no problem with our scientific and mathematical terms, but when it comes to everyday English, we always manage to get something wrong. The rules can be a bit confusing, because I probably had my single local shop in mind, which is singular not plural. No wonder people from other countries have trouble learning English, which can also have regional variations. Here in London, we make our beds in the morning, while in other areas they dress them. We also make a cup of tea, while they wet it. Both or those examples are most obvious in Ireland.

Don't know if I wrote this but my best method of salting popcorn is to put a little bit of cooking oil (1/10 of regular cup maybe) and salt (like half of the small spoon) into a regular plastic shopping bag and put popcorn in the bag and tumble it in this bag for a minute. I don't cook bacon in the microwave any more, but the best method I found was just to lay your bacon out in a plate and cover, cook on high for about three minutes. If it cooks laying down, it fries in it's own fat. All these gadgets, or cooking on paper towels, separate the fat out. The reason bacon tastes better in the pan is because you're cooking it in hot fat. So just use a plate!

As far as the NINJA chopper, I prefer the manual versions. Those have better control and will do a better job, as you can chop as well as mixing batter. These use multiple blades which can chop quickly as they turn faster than your turning the blades, as they are geared up. Additionally, you can add liquids without taking the lid off or you can add other small items. You are also less likely to purée the items. My sister was dicing up things to put on a bunch of tacos and I did the same. She was doing it by hand. I finished doing all my vegetables and she was still dicing the onion. We diced up onions, 3 different color peppers and tomatoes. The blades are very sharp and didn’t maul the tomatoes or peppers. The trouble I see is that you have very little control on slicing peppers or tomatoes. With the onions it’s about the same. You can cut the onion in halve, putting both halves in at the same time and it goes through it very quickly in a second or two. They also sell one that you can wash a little fruit and pour off the water after you spin the fruit in the included basket. Then you can put the blade in and dice the fruit into smaller pieces. It’s also quieter sounding and has an egg separator built into the lid. The one I have, that I bought long ago, even has a separate lid for slicing and shredding.

My first set of plastic cutting boards probably lasted about 15 years before they were too scratched up to clean thoroughly so they got repurposed into the potting shed. The replacements have held up well now for four or five years. Mostly cooking for one, I found it useful to cut a couple of them in half since I don't always need such a big surface and the half-size is very convenient and easier to clean and dry.

What's easier is to put bacon on a paper towel that is on a plate and then cover the bacon with either a microwave splash lid or just with another paper towel. That's way cheaper and leaves no mess for the microwave and about 2-3 minutes for a 1,000 watt microwave for about 8 strips is just fine to make them fully crispy cooked and not burnt. So these gadgets i.m.o. aren't worth the money since they only do one thing and the bacon has to be folded over and it's obviously cooked in a folded over way.

Agreed. That’s all we ever do and it always comes out great with no splatter mess and less grease left on the bacon. Glass plate, paper towel, strips of bacon, cover with another paper towel, and our microwave is perfect at one minute per slice.

I got that Ninja chopper for free with my purchase of my 7 in 1 Foodi Grill (which I love) and it is very efficient. So efficient that I usually just chop by hand because it completely pulverizes anything you put in there. Cool if you want to make like cilantro or minced garlic or something though.

I have always done 1 minute per slice of bacon that I cook in the microwave. So like 6 pieces of bacon I would put in for 6 minutes and start to watch at like 5 1/2 minutes to check. Some microwaves will be done at 5 and 1/2 minutes, some at 6 minutes and some need a little more. If I had the choice of the microwave or a pan, it would be a pan or flat top griddle. @13:35 Based on the testing you did on this chopper, I have decided to go to Walmart tomorrow and buy one. Thanks!! For $22, you can not beat that! It seems that most if not all the products that you have tested from Ninja in the past couple years have all been very well made and the performance they claim is what you get!

This Ninja Express Chop is AMAZING! Chops fast & easy clean up! It's great if (like me) you own reptiles that need their veggies chopped up. In a snap and done! I also use it to make ham salad spread with leftover ham and chop my own food! It works as a Ninja should, never disappointing! I love Ninja products! Thanks for reviewing it for me, I was having a hard time finding a good chopper!

I like the cutting mats to protect my butchers block. Im also a fan of ninja - I think it says 15 secs max because that little motor can overheat quickly. I have a ninja product that already covers that task but could see it might be useful for some who dont want to swap over attachments all the time.

I bought the ninja chopper express 10 years ago, when I had to do a lot of chopping etc. I also found a way to use it to make a sorbet-like dessert. In my case I didn't didn't add sugar. I just used frozen fruit and passed it to where it got to the right consistency which was a thick frozen fruit paste like consistency ... It is worth a try. It works better and easier to clean than some of the other appliances...

That Ninja chopper looks the same as the one we have. Though that also included a large 4L pitcher with chopping blades. We received it as a wedding gift in 2011 and I use it as a blender and fine chopper multiple times a week. It's great for onions when you want them finely diced and recently used it to basically ground up cooked turkey and sausages.

Just have to be careful not to tiny onions into onion puree with it! Ive been impressed how well the plastic has held up. Mine still look brand new and crystal clear after almost a decade of regular use. And the design is simple enough that I never second guess using it based on having to clean it.

I bought a Ninja inversion blender/mixer system, I bought the chopper accessory separately to use with. I believe it was 40 bucks which is somewhat expensive, but it works just like the standalone chopper you tested. I use the chopper to pulverize veggies usually to make homemade tomato/marinara sauce or soups. It so quick I can make things in small batches and then combine them to make one big batch.

Had one of those little Ninja's forever now, got it like $15 at ROSS. Still does more work than any gadget that small has a right to. I also recommend one of them glass popcorn things with a handle and the butter drip tray at the top, love it, gotta get the Flavocol to make it the theater/carnival style.
