You are a strong and... oh wait, wrong video. Nice save, Peter. It looks gorgeous. I would have liked to have a close-up view of the bottom to see how the plug "disappeared". When you first cut off the wings I said to myself that you had enough there to make a second box, so it is kind of funny how useful that turned out to be. So, cutting board next week? Ha!

That was a great save Peter, well done. Hollowing endgrain... use a sharp scraper, or negative rake scraper, like the rest of us and you will get a pretty good finish with no grief... well, unless you get too enthusiastic. I learned that tip from a professional turner of 55 years experience and it works. Best Wishes, Brendan.

The grain that comes out from the herringbone pattern is amazing. It almost looks like regular grain, not glued-up boards. Very neat idea to try for other projects. Thanks!

+Jose Quintela I was sad that this wasn't done. It was suggested in the previous video, but now the ship has sailed. I don't think doing slight alterations of projects is a good idea, and this is a good box too. Keep up the good work Peter, your videos are very entertaining. My favorite series is Dip It, so dip some more, wackier things with epoxy (Maybe a live gerbil!)

Wow. Absolutely beautiful. When you went through the bottom I actually gasped. But then you fixed it. You sir, are a true craftsman. I can't tell you how many times with my own crafts I've made mistakes and just run with it. To me, that's a sign of true skill. The ability to adapt and work around mistakes. I also love that you showed us how you fixed it -- now anyone else who decides to try this will be armed with the knowledge and some ideas on how to fix things should they ever need to. Again, gorgeous work. I want it. :)

I think this is the best box you've made yet! I really like the way it looks and the stain you added to it really makes it look nice. I also like that you didn't cut out your mistake from the video and instead showed us how you would fix a problem like that, it made the video even more interesting in my opinion!
