They really need a love it button!!! Like just isn't good enough. Fully understand the feeling alone when working on the property feelings as well as the camera helps by giving you someone to talk to! I discovered that on the last trip to our project. This is quickly joining the short list of favorite channels for me because it is so relatable!

I've commented on some of your other videos and it's great to see where you guys were just getting started and how far you have come. I always look forward to your new videos. Using a water hose to check level and/or angle of a trench is one of the easiest ways to monitor your depth and pitch. Water always finds it's own level regardless of the distance or grade. 60' of rolling meadow or uphill ground means you can't trust your eyes from the operator's seat.

Good luck on your new Homestead. Your right about the tractor wave. I watch the Out Doors with the Morgans. They had RK Tractors for a year. Fine tractor. Back in 14 I bought a Kubota L3301 with loader. We heat with wood so thats the tractors main job. But everyone would agree. Once a tractor is purchased the physical job has changed. Pretty much unlimited as well.

Thanks for the well wishes, fellow tractor buddy 😉. I've already put a good 160 hours on it and it's been invaluable, especially with that backhoe. I don't know how I survived without one before. Sounds like you have a nice machine yourself. Can't go wrong with a kubota.

Now it’s time to buy your biggest investment for the tractor. Go buy a p.t.o. Driven generator. You’ll have power wherever you can drive the tractor, and when you loose power to the house that generator will run everything you need. Mine has saved my butt several times. Make sure when you wire your house you put in an interlock on the electrical panel, and a 50 amp plug mounted outside the house somewhere the tractor can park next to. Small investment for piece of mind. Especially water!

I like that idea, and must say I didn't even consider that before. We will probably be on solar, due to the distance of running a line to the bottom of the property. I can see how this would be useful when we have a long period of dormancy and the panels aren't generating what we need. Thanks for the idea 👍

I feel the responsibility to tell you to be careful because once you have purchased your first tractor that a lot of guys come down with a sickness called tractor fever. Haha! Sorry to leave a cliff hanger. You can see what the rock looks like unearthed on episode 6. We learned it came from an old house's fireplace hearth. @@WalnutsandWineberries Still bingeing. Up to episode 29 so far. Thanks for getting back to me. Are you positive about the location of the house? Looks like about a mile or more to get from your road up to the proposed house location. You both may need 4 wheel drive vehicles in the snow and ice to climb that mountain of yours. I used to be one of the "Snow Plow" drivers in Kentucky. Just wondering. More later. Be well and safe!!

Yes, I've put about 150 hours on the tractor now and I'm still loving it. The Yanmar diesel is a great engine in this thing. Very dependable and plenty strong for what I need. I like how there are standard things on this tractor that are add-ons when compared to others, like the rear utility hydraulics if you want to run a log splitter or something like that. The skid steer style quick attach in the front is wonderful also. I feature the tractor a lot in the channel, so check out the other vids if you're interested. I don't think you could go wrong with either tractor.

@1:48 your tractor dealer should have sold you chains for securing the tractor to the trailer. Straps are known to stretch and tractors have literally fallen off trailers when crossing railroad tracks and small bridges with bumps are either end. Check out Messicks' videos, they did a feature on trailers and tractors after they had a salesman who lost a brand new tractor delivering it to a customer because he didn't use chains; he used straps.
