Walter the 3 year old Patterdale x JRT has completed his three week stay. His owner was struggling with his reaction to dogs where he would bark and lunge towards them when on a lead and run over when off lead.
During his stay we helped Walter to gain confidence around unknown dogs by teaching him the skills of disengagement and helped him to remain focused when in these situation. This has given also his owner the confidence to deal with him effectively when out in public.
We have also strengthened all his obedience exercises and focused heavily on his loose lead walking to help his owner to handle him in unpredictable situations.
Walter struggled with settling in the house especially when there was someone at the door. By teaching him to settle on cue his owner now has a tool to deal with visitors, counter surfing and settling in public.
Walter is a lovely boy and we have thoroughly enjoyed having him with us and seeing him develop, and we were very lucky to have had him with us over his birthday.
