When I'm cleaning house I pretend like I'm the babysitter and that this isn't my house but I'm cleaning it for the parents and admiring all the grown up stuff they have and their cool dishes or furniture and how awesome it'll be when I have that of my own. It gives a new perspective for my 13 year old self to appreciate what my 60 year old self has accomplished in her life.

I got breast cancer at 30. When you start having health problems and taking lots of pills, it can cause a lot of other gut and immunity issues. One habit I changed was switching out my coffee for green tea. It has caffeine, is good for the gut, and is the best thing you can drink to boost your immunity. It wasn’t that hard of transition for me, and now I love it just as much as coffee. I start each day with green tea, honey, and a scoop of collagen powder. Great for hair, skin, and the whole body:)

Anna, I LOVE your weird habits! I've been complimenting strangers for years!! It's a beautiful way to spread love and kindness in a world that sometimes isn't so kind. My favorite memory is complimenting a woman about her gloriously beautiful shiny white hair and style. Her eyes literally welled up and she shared with me that it was her first birthday alone and that my compliment changed her perspective!! I was so moved, I asked to give her a birthday hug which she gladly accepted! It was such a beautiful moment for both of us! ❤ Anna, keep up your not-so-weird habits!!

Anna, re: anxiety, start listening to Andrew Hubermann from Stanford Medical University. He talks about music/dancing. Personally, I am an IT project mgr-So time Mgt is my thing in relation to getting task done. My question always is: “am I a doctor birthing a baby today or saving someone from a heart attack?“. The answer, of course, is no. Hence, nothing is that important. Have a dedicated day that you dust the house. Have a different dedicated day that you do laundry. Have a different dedicated day that you Clean floors. That way when you break it up, it doesn’t seem so overwhelming. Also include your young children in the cleaning process and they will become a big help later I understand they are small now

I told her I liked her outfit & said I thought she had a great personal style. We are both attorneys & we were at a weekend-long conference. She was massively offended & gave me a lecture about “patriarchy” and “society’s expectations” for what female attorneys should wear. For the rest of the weekend, she made negative comments about my clothes every time we were together& even criticized me for changing out of my workout clothes for dinner. 😢

I use a similar way, I help/counsel people with their problems, it puts things in perspective of what your issues are!! Most the time, you realize your issues aren't so bad. Don't discredit them. Allow yourself to be in the moment, but be grateful, you aren't in their shoes!! ❤

Great video!! I’ve used the what would wear approach, too! I also genuinely compliment others because I love connecting with people around style and beauty. And my “set-a-timer-type” habit (I’m going to try this one!) is a “set of three”: I determine the top 3 things that if I were to complete would make me feel good and accomplished. I also use this approach to remembering things (it would be wiser to write them down but sometimes these things come to me while I’m in the showers or driving). What are three things I need to remember to do. One last thing I try and do is channel my wiser self to determine effective solutions to challenges.

A stranger tapped me on the shoulder to tell me that she loved my haircut. Actually it has happened a number of times; haircut and highlights. It always makes me feel so good; my thought being that a stranger doesn’t owe me anything, so it must be genuine. I always remember to tell my hairdresser the next time I see her, and I do compliment strangers when I like something about their appearance. I don’t run across the street to do it, but if we are going through a door at the same time or waiting in a line I will say “ I love your….”

I read once that you should start your cleaning in a different room each time. Great list, thanks for sharing. I can endorse Atomic Habits and habit stacking. Recently I decided I needed some help remembering to take my basic supplements -- multivitamin+, D3, nothing weird -- which it seems should be SO EASY to remember and yet about half the time I didn't. Solution: stack that habit with eating breakfast, something I do literally every day. Also, ChatGPT and I are on very good terms. We have frequent conversations about a wide range of subjects including exercise and nutrition, how to store homemade bread, the differences between poblanos and bell peppers... I've asked it to write fairy tales and poetry for me. I asked it to help me create a menu for a dinner party. My husband thinks I have a new boyfriend because we have such great conversations!

With cleaning: just do small stuff as you go. Have a designated place for everything, and keep them there. When you make food, or go to the toilet, clean it right away. Beddings, vacuuming, just have designated days/areas to do those. All this helps, so there's not often a need to do a deep cleaning, which takes a week lol. You know, I'm from Alabama originally, so I can strike up conversations with strangers, no problem. I've literally had a 5+ minute conversation with someone who had a wrong phone number 🤣😄! (He was in another state trying to make a motel reservation, except the motel was, shall we say, popular with the younger, more exuberant crowd. I helped him find a decent hotel & gave him the number 😄) I already compliment women strangers. Lol! Whether it's an outfit or just EVERYTHING together that makes them look beautiful! I do this especially with older women. I'm 59, and I LOVE to receive a compliment! As we get older, we feel more "invisible," so I feel it's especially important to notice & compliment her! But whether it's a whole outfit or just a particular color that's flattering, I try to notice. And I only say so when I honestly feel that way, they've made me do a double take. Her face just LIGHTS UP, and I know I've just made her day. ❤ THAT makes MY day!

Thank you Anna for this great video!!! I'm going to have to rewatch to get inspired once again. There is so much to type but I will keep it short. I like the idea of choosing someone, an inspiration to play a part to wear different outfits. I used to be pretty shy, I am changing but I still have this thing about wearing clothes that I am used to and not branching out ( even though I have the clothes). For instance I will think I'm going to wear a dress then the day comes and I stick to my pants I have worn a kazillion times instead, so if I think I'm playing a part, it really might help me. Here are my words that I am trying to use often: SO WHAT and WHY NOT?!?! You are so down to Earth and one of my top favorites on KZbin. :) Thanks for all your efforts here. Take care!!

I like that... I like the tip about taking the attention off yoursef and putting it on someone else...a random stranger. That is awesome.

Anna, I guess I’m weird. I think out my outfits for the days activities and plan. Does make getting ready easier. Thanks for the good content.
