My Biggest Dream For Our Outdoor Cats Finally Came True !!

The title of the video says it all actually. I can't even begin to tell you how relaxed I've been since our outdoor cats started living in their new environment. Knowing where they are at any time of the day is just amazing. And in case you're wondering why we waited so long to build this place; I had actually been living somewhere else with my indoor cats and Walter until recently. But when I finally had the chance to move next door to my parents, we were then able to combine both front gardens and build this place. And the indoor environment in the video is the basement floor of the house that I stay in. As for our cats; they really seem to like their new garden. And they get to sleep inside every night :) You'll be seeing lots of videos from the garden from now on because I was waiting for this video to be completed before uploading those garden videos. And among those videos that will be uploaded in the coming weeks, there are some detailed ones about Zoom (with her new "friend"), Pamuk and The Purring Cat. After watching those three videos, everything will fall into place :) By the way, I reorganized all the playlists on our channel. Agreed! I have a special boy I've been feeding for at least 5, 6 years. After 18 months, he allowed me to pet him. Then I got run over crossing the srreet. It took another 9 months before we got back to where we had been. Last night, I opened the door and invited him in. He looked at our other cats, came in, rubbed a couple noses, (he's met my escape artists) and stayed long enough to warm up a bit, then went out. He came in today, also. We're getting our 2nd Nor'Easter this week, and temps are going to be brutal. I hope General Lee finds a spot to curl up in and call his own in the apartment. The down side of being so close to an outdoor kitty is the worry when he doesn't come around for 3 or 4 days. I'm just happy he trusts me enough to come inside with our 7 kitties!✌😺

Turkish people generally love cats and Turkey is flooded with them. I live in Antalya and like every apartament site has 20-30 cats. In İstanbul alone it is estimated to be 125.000 stray cats (not to mention pet cats) and people take care of them together. Usually the mindset in Turkey is more towards looking after animals (by providing food,water etc.) and let them roam around freely, rather than owning individually so there are lots of stray animals in the streets and people make collective efforts to look after them. Normally it is highly unusual to see a dirty or hungry cat on the street. But all of this has a downside because it made them too much dependable on us and because the current situations, constant lockdowns and restrictions, and the ongoing pandemic has heavily effected this situation. Like everywhere, People cant go outside whenever they like, interact freely and feed them like before so it is true that stray animals are having hard times and there is misery without the people to take care of them. There are still animal lovers and non profit organisations that are doing the best they can but there are huge number of cats and without the goverments help, it is sadly not enough.

I love what you have done for the cats. We are retired and renting and on fixed income. We have 11 rescued cats inside and 7 ferals inside in a separate room. Also feeding a mother cat and 3 kittens and stray male outside. We spend all our money feeding the fur babies. Well, if that situation ever changes... When I want to keep my cats in for the night and they disagree, I just use a grabber stick as a cat pusher. To get outside, I wiggle the stick at the cats to keep them far enough from the door. To get inside, I carefully open the door a little and wiggle the stick again right by the door (dim light, black cats) as I slip inside. The cats find it very amusing. They have their own spots on a chair and table near the door from which they watch my performance.

We can hope Loud Cat will eventually learn to be with other cats without aggression, and then may perhaps join with others. Loud Cat still gets food, I am sure. Maybe the cat won't even want to come to the fenced area, when he notices that he will still get food.

i can't help but feel sorry for Loud Cat, but that's only because i'm too mushy and that meow was too cute. i know she will still get to visit you and be fed, just not in those special garden areas, and perhaps one day she will learn to be less of a bully. i think it's very sweet and thoughtful that you took into account every cat's personalities and relationships and ensured that each one gets their safe space. it's a testament to your kindness and big heart that the cats don't even think about trying to zip through the doors when it's open -- i bet they're huddling there just to welcome you back. thank you for your wonderful work for the cats, and it's so cute that Walter now gets his own special area as well. oh to be a contented stray cat that has found a comfortable residence in your paradise of a garden!

WOW! I don't know who acknowledge me today based on this video, It is exactly a month today since I lost My cat of 22 years. No doubt this video comforted me then. Beautiful cats. Beautiful people. I have watched these videos before and after since that day. All bringing me joy. Have watched them several times. I think this is to the credit of this videos giving my pain freedom. With that said, I am enjoying this video, once again, for the first time. I think this video pacified me to the point that I could mourn my cat yet not remember this video. I am truly trying to understand this. Cannot believe I do not remember this video that I watched at such a sensitive time. I remember everything about my cat that day/night. They let them wear those collars just for a few days, to let neighbours (who they thought were feeding there cats, when they were roaming around) know that from now on the cats will no longer visit them. From 4:47 over... 5:00 (where it is explained) ... to 6:56 where he gives the final result.

I am very envious. Years and years ago, I tried to protect my cats against the dangers of roaming free. The enclosure, built by an incompetent builder, did not stop the cats from jumping over one of the slanted mesh and netting walls. My beloved Jasper jumped it and a nasty neighbor let his dogs run free. Jasper was killed by them. SO, I appreciate every detail of your magnificent protection for your cats.

Cats love to roam loose especially if they are use to having their way. Stray cats do not want to stay inside after being a roaming freelance cat a CIC 'cat in charge'. But its easier for me to sleep when they are in the house with me as other cats cause fights and humans are mean. In Australia all the stray cats were rounded up and murdered it was sad. They did awful things to cats due to birds, but it was humans fault. If a pet cat gets loose in Australia it to would be arrested and put before a firing squad. It makes me happy to see all your cat family and dog in a nice safe place its expensive to put up nice fences gates and a indoor room. Very considerate thank you for being a kind example. Its a real blessing!

@@combatmedic91-b76 well, no. We do now have legally required microchips which while mildly dystopian is protective for owners who care about the cats and the cats themselves, as well as wildlife. Stray animals usually go to the pound and depending, yes there is a risk that if not adopted they may be put to sleep. Perhaps you are from SA and thinking of Cleland wildlife sanctuary and John Wohnsley? Not sure how you spell his name, but the one who made a hat out of feral cat pelts. No doubt feral cats can devastate already endangered wildlife (even more significant after the fires), but i am not a fan of the exorbitant approach to control as a cat lover myself. In areas with endangered wildlife, how do you believe feral cats should be dealt with? It must be extraordinarily difficult to trap them, and some are surely beyond domestication.

We adopted a feral cat when we lived in Key Largo. When it was cold, seldom that is, we would put a space heater in our boats cabin and that was her favorite hang out. She loved fresh fish too. Her name was Annie and when we retired and moved to Gainesville, our next door neighbor was glad to take care of her. She loved Annie too! Last year we adopted two kittens from the shelter. They complete our home.

It also enables keeping cats that do not get along with these cats separate from them. And as shown with the introverted cat, her preference was completely respected. That preference being to still be around, but elsewhere

My goodness. I'm near speechless. You really made a living space that's almost 100% safe, or is practically 100% safe, and has accommodations for every need a cat has short of wanderlust. That's really unbelievably amazing of you to do this. These kitties will never know just how fortunate and blessed they are to have some truly amazing people looking out for them. I mean no hyperbole when I say this is the coolest and nicest thing I've personally seen someone do for their colony of cats. You're really inspiring, I hope one day I can do a quarter of what you do for these cats. They're all so beloved by the community and as much as you feel safer you can add that everyone who watches your videos can feel safer too. If I could make something so awesome for my cats I would and I think I'm going to try to after watching this. I have 1 indoor/outdoor cat and 3 indoor cats and I always wished I could let me indoor cats out to play from time to time but they won't wear harnesses.
