You don't have to bring the slide back for takedown. It's not a Glock. Check your chamber make sure it's empty, pull the trigger, pull the takedown tabs down and pull the slide off. The absolute easiest gun to takedown, this is one of the best features of the PPQ that gets over shadowed by its amazing trigger.

+Chris Sabre well there is equal support for either ppq m1 or m2 you can't go wrong. They take same recoil spring options, sights, grips and holsters. If you get the m1 you can use Walther p99 mags if you get the m2 you can use the canik tp9 mags.

I have one of these and I love it. I have put a small 3 port (2 side & 1 up) muzzle break on it. Together with trigger I can fast shoot multiple rounds with unbelievable accuracy. However, I have had some FTEs when using old cheap 115gr ammo. When using quality ammunition (any modern commercial), I have never had an issue with the pistol. When I carry this pistol, which isn't often due to its size, I feel completely confident that I am WELL armed.

The PPQ is an excellent pistol. IMO it's the best striker-fired pistol out there south of $1000. Eric mentions it somewhat, but this thing has an AMAZING trigger, not to mention the reset is around a tenth (.10) of an inch! I have the M1, which has the "European" paddle-style mag release, which I've grown to love as well as it is ambidextrous. I've run pretty much everything in 9mm through it and been pretty brutal with it and it's been rock-solid reliable. Several thousand rounds later and to date (knock wood), not a single malfunction. Not one. Eric is correct, though. The sights are cheesy. First thing I did to mine was install some night sights on it. Gun is tack-driver accurate.

Just picked up the Walther PPQ M2 .45 and it is absolutely amazing. Such an incredibly smooth shooter. The trigger is excellent and frankly I can't imagine a better gun to have next to your night stand or at the range. I have a few other guns as well, but this thing really seems like a great all arounder. Awesome review! P.S. I've put about 250 rounds through mine and the slide locked to the rear every single time. I know the slidestop is what messed yours up, but just wanted to mention it.

The flag on his jacket isn't backwards, it is just the American way to wear a flag. It's how a flag looks when you're moving forward and it is flapping back with the wind. This is how a lot of soldiers and aircraft display their flags around the world as well.

+TR-8R I got a uniform, almost the same one but mine is from "Heimevernet" which is kind of a civilian protection devision and you can join them when you're 16. But the flag on that one is also backwards, so it's not just an american way to wear a flag.

My PPQ has only failed to lock back once. The cause was powder build up in the follower in the mag. The follower has an ear that pushes up on the slide lock. The follower if fowled will not rise up high enough to push up the slide lock.

Extra soft spot for my PPQ M2 as I used it to qualify for my LTC. My wife got me the granular Talon grips, along with a headlight. Oh yeah! For conceal carry, it's too fat in the grip for me, personally, to carry, but great for so many other uses. I absolutely love it on so many levels. I'm a short guy, so will choose something thinner for personal carry.

Hey eric - Greetings from Germany The reason why guns for German military use (police im not sure) need a certain trigger weight is because of a drop test. In a manual out of the time my dad was in military service (1980s) a new test was mentioned ; G3 rifles needed to pass a drop test from a few more feet than standard because the bundeswehr made poor experience with uzis falling and firing. I think they just kept the new drop height and expanded it to pistols, so new models still have to comply and triggers are heavier. Keep up the good work :)

The problem with the slide not locking back is due to your thumb or part of your hand holding down the slide release. I had this same issue with mine until I figured out what I was doing. I had to make a conscious effort to keep my thumb away from the slide release. I'm used to it now but it took awhile :). Edit: not a broken slide stop, just a grip adjustment. One other edit: The M2 Navy comes with a second recoil spring that is meant to be used with a suppressor - not sure if you guys were running that spring while testing with the suppressor on?

I've had the PPQ M2 for just over a year and had two issues both to do with grip, Firstly, I was touching the mag release and the mag dropped out a couple of times. Pete at the Armory Channel pointed this out and hated it. I haven't had it since becoming aware of it. Secondly, the slide not locking back. I think I was press my thumb against it and causing it. Again, once aware of it, no probs. Love the weapon.

I bought the PPQ Navy after I went through a period of buying all HK’s. While is still have and love all my HK’s, and also love my Glock 19X and Glock 45... I have to say that the PPQ has become one of my favorites. I liked my Navy so much, that I bought a second PPQ (not Navy). Both will be getting Meprolight night sights. If you go with an Osprey suppressor, you don’t need taller sights.

Good video. As an owned of a couple of Gen 1 PPQs (M1, Classic etc.) I can agree with the trigger being almost too light. Not a concern for competition, running courses of fire - but as an ex-LEO I probably wouldn't have gone with it as a choice. Regarding the slide not locking back (when not broken!), pretty common with the larger slide-releases (happened frequently on similar HK duty pistols I carried). Simple fact is our thumbs/fingers ride up a bit in a proper grip and tend to knock it out of place, preventing the gun from locking open. It's something you can counter with a small grip change, but I did it for four years in a row on/off with my old duty P2000. While the slide release is easy to manipulate and ambidextrous, it's large size does result in that issue.

My PPQ doesn't lock to the rear occasionally as well. My hand always rests on that big lever for the slide lock and prevents it from locking back. User error from what I've experienced - seems like anyone who uses it has the issue just based on grip.

Walther's warranty should cover the slide catch. - Even if you are not original purchaser.

I purchased the PPQ M1 in Sept. It's great. I prefer the paddle mag release now or at least Walther's version of it.

Seen quite a few people complain about the slide not locking back to the rear on the last shot. In every case, people reported that the problem was due to their grip and hitting the slide release with their thumb. Me personally, I don't rest my offhand grip that high up, and subsequently, have never experienced the problem

I bought a regular M2 last year, best handgun I've shot... easy. Small and medium grips both work well for me, but I keep the small on it.. with the hump it works well... I've never once had an issue with the slide stop, but it is HUGE and long(twss)... When a friend shoots it he regularly rides it and it won't lock back on an empty mag. Forum issue imo.

I got a chance to put a few mags through one of these at a rental range (the original version). For me, I think the trigger is a little light for carry, but what an awesome range/competition gun. Sweet shooter!

I've carried the Q almost every day since early 2013. Probably 11k rounds based on my email receipts from freedom mun. The slide has never fail to lock except when I've had my thumb on the catch. It will feed and fire anything in 9x19. The grip is admittedly very slick and I have corrected it by gluing grip tape all over it. Sights are cheap but they work fine. I've run the Q through both tactical response and Ludus. If you're considering this gun, get it. You will not be disappointed with the performance or the trigger.

There weren't any aftermarket options back then so I just used what I had. The super glue and skateboard tape is holding up well so I cannot complain.

a lot of the slide lock back issues comes from the shooter. It's very easy to leave your thumb on one which will obviously prevent it from locking.

We have two and they are a nice alternative to the G19. Both our POQ M2's in 9mm pull left, no matter the shooter and I noticed that yours did as well. You'll find reviews out there and a couple also mention that problem. I have not replaced the factory sights yet on the two but it will be interesting to see if that solves the problem. Other than that, we do like ours. I still prefer a G19 or a 1911 but the Walther's are a great choice.

Ive noticed that a few vids on this gun have tried to point out the pre loaded sear like its a new thing among striker fired pistols. No one has EVER mentioned the same thing about S&W M&P pistols in all the years its been around...
