In 1980 I use to wash my records with great results.. A Foam Scrub and Medium Pressure Filtered Water Blast.. Allow to Dry and PRESTO...

I was born the same year as the 1992 pressing, yet I view that as a "newer" pressing since 99% of what I have was pressed before I was born. But I am not so new myself these days. Weird. The video title makes me chuckle. I still gotta get one of these AP pressings (those naturally seem super new to me).

Great review! I have the Fantasy numbered first reissue as well, and I am so happy with it, I didn't bother getting the UHQR. I did grab the recent OJC and sold it. That particular release did not do as well for me.

I am so sorry to hear the new Analog Productions did not meet your expectations. I am still on the edge of buying both new Bill Evans.

The 1992 release is beyond stellar! I can’t justify paying $150.00 for a record that doesn’t outshine their 92 pressing. I’m sure the UHQR sounds beautiful, but $150.00 beautiful? I do agree it’s a great addition to any audiophile completist of the UHQR Series. Beautiful record cleaning demo and gorgeous machinery! Thanks for enlightening us. 👍🏽👍🏽

I skipped this UHQR and the Village Vanguard because I recently picked up the Craft OJC’s. Most of if not all of the other UHQR’s I have are among the best versions Ive heard. I believe they are announcing the next on on Aug 9th.

Thanks for the great video! The Kirmuss record cleaning process is way too involved for me. There is no kind of RCM which can correct physical flaws in the pressings. If it's only ticks and pops, that is what a processor is for which specifically deals with those. With the 1,000's of records I have in my collection, I just don't have the time I want to dedicate cleaning a couple of records. I have 1,ooo's of 45's and would appreciate an RCM which can do multiple 7" 45's at a time and there are some ultrasonic RCM's which can do this. I am pretty much going to have to stick with my VPI RCM. One thing of note, I never, ever leave a record exposed to the air, outside of playing it. Especially with wet records. Even clean rooms aren't that clean. A wet or a record carrying a static electrical charge draws dust out of the air like a magnet. If you know anything about the UHQR pressings then you know that they aren't the best. Starting with the way they are pressed, on a semi-automatic record press, insert human error into the pressing process. Do they clean off the stampers between pressing cycles? I haven't seen it. That piece(s) of dust which landed on the stamper is pressed into the next record. There is no way that the dust can ever be removed. Starting with the QRP pressings, although I feel they are doing better, I have had so many where one side was pressed off-center. I have found this in their regular pressings, their audiophile pressings and their UHQR pressings. When Analogue Productions released their first UHQR record, UHQR-0001 by Jimi Hendrix, the first copy I received was unplayable. It had everything wrong with it which you could imagine. So much for the human factor. It took my almost a year for me to get Acoustic Sounds to replace it. The replacement was as good as it could be and I was happy! In dealing with Customer Service, they let it slip that they had a 10% defective and return rate. Out of a run of 5,000 records, that's alot of records and a real profit loss. And comparing it to the original pressing of the LP by Columbia Santa Maria on the Reprise label, the UHQR is close, but no cigar. Analogue Productions can only wish that they could get the quality of virgin vinyl that CSM used in the late-60's into the early-80's when they closed. OK. How a record sounds is first dependent on it's mastering. In the case of the UHQR which you were dealing with, Chad Kassem had full control over that and he approved what went to press. That is why, sonically, different productions of the same record can sound remarkably different. Add in who and how it was pressed. If you like it, that is fine, that is your opinion. And, if you do like a certain pressing of a certain record, then you have achieved your goal. For you it has hit a home run, and that is what counts.

Would be great to get a video on technique for brushing an album right before you play it; meaning out of the sleeve, onto the TT prior to dropping the cart. Also would appreciate brush recommendations specifically for this.

I'm CONSIDERING (saving for &) getting a Loricraft (sp?). I have a Record Dr X and a HummingGuru; is a string cleaning machine worth the $$?
@LetsCleanaRecord3 ай бұрын
That's a hard one. You have a suction type machine and a US, so you're pretty well set. That said, there is something special about the Loricraft, both from a functional and user-experience perspective. I have put what I would have thought is a thoroughly cleaned record on the Loricraft and wouldn't you know, dirt ended up in the jar. It really is an ultra-effective cleaning machine. Using the Loricraft is simultaneously a joy and a pain! It's...finicky but in a charming way. The Loricraft is also stunningly beautiful with the fit and finish off the charts nice. If you intend to put your cleaning machine front and center for all to see, it's a fabulous choice. So, bottom line, the Loricraft is worth it to me despite it's hefty price.

I have one other question: my current process for cleaning all LPs at least once is... 1) Spin clean & soak in enzyme cleaner 2) "scrub" with Record Dr cleaner 3) US with AIV enzyme US cleaner (10 mins) 4) Suction *5) clean Distilled water Should I reverse US & suction? The US has a dry cycle. Thanks! I love your channel.

Thank you for saying something! The AP 45 reissues of Time Out and 90125 are way worse than the original vinyl. Crazy EQ and too wide a soundstage to where the instruments sound unnatural and washed out

It is true we're fans of the Kirmuss process. It can be time consuming for sure, but does an excellent job. In our experience, there are pros and cons to all types of cleaning machines. I hope you'll check out some of our other videos. We try to demonstrate how to get the best out of any cleaning process. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

Clear records should be avoided where the carbon black element is missing. Without this added to the pvc, there is an increase in the coefficient of friction thus increasing the temperature of the contact point needle and record. If thos was all Black, wow wow wow! I consider clear or colored records including white one more of a vanity or statement record, having restored thousands of records. With clear or white records, and the mix not the same as is the case with black records having their own specific liquefiers, stabilizers, plasticizers, with the black carbon added, a couple more cycles would do some more justice.
@LetsCleanaRecord3 ай бұрын
That's fascinating! I always assumed there was no difference to the color of the vinyl.

You REALLY want it to sound its best ? Run 7 more cycles and 2 to rinse...you are welcome !
@kirmussaudio75784 ай бұрын
You can use 4 more 2 minute cycles, one five and a 5 minute cycle with no ionizing agent added. Clear records need extra attention.

Those UHQR are totally overpriced. $150 for a new presiing is crazy. Why would you want to pay for a big box noone wants. Also many people online are complaining about surface noise. I thought Clarity vinyl was quieter then quiet. Oh wait there is no such thing. Your record either plays real quiet or it doesn't.
