Critically thinking people could recognize Vance was lying; how he appeared at the debate , what he has been saying prior to becoming Trump's running mate & since becoming his running mate. His seamless lies, deflection, and inability to be authentic was not lost on viewers. The media is clearly unable and has been unable to speak to truth during these Trump years...

Vance came off as a slick used-car salesman, smooth, but you know he's lying, particularly when he comes out and whines that “The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check!” Walz came off as nervous, but passionate and authentic. The events of the Chinese pro-democracy movement were WAY MORE than just a one day event. It continued throughout that summer which Walz originally meant to say. He went to China during that summer, and no, Tim wasn’t in Tiananmen Square, it was used as a reference to the event that cracked down on the pro-democracy movement.

Im normally the person who shakes my head at comments that start "the mainstream media..." However, in this case, the media coverage of this debate is a large part why candidates do not address policy, and they focus on personality. This applies to mainstream, local, late night shows, and youtube pundits. This debate was very in the details about policy, and as you mentioned, both sides were very agreeable, and cordial. However most pundits have said that this debate was boring, that candidates did not want to make news, and that the debate wasnt impactful.
