Wampler makes amazing quality pedals. The Triple Wreck is the most articulate intense distortion there is. Not just uber gain but very Mesa Amp voiced. Heard a lot of claims Shur, Emma, and a lot of others but this puppy sets them on fire. This is probably the best video to be found running it through the paces. The boost is actually a fuzz circuit that lays on top the high gain w the contour control changing the boost voicing.

Ok, this is the best demo of the pedal I could find on KZbin. I found literally one V2 for sale on Reverb and ordered it. Putting aside the pedal, the clean/edge of breakup tone from your Mark IV is insanely good.

Love mine. It's a powerful tool, and a great surprise tone option for someone like me who plays mostly vintage classic rock with generally accepted gain/overdrive tones and wants to suddenly launch into a death metal tune to watch the eyebrows go up.

This s the best most articulate uber gain pedal, a real face melter. Best video of it I have heard. Solid State guy below: seriously man, just for tube amps. No one runs a dist pedal into a dist amp they are made for clean channel. It is all about tweaking and adjusting. Maybe just a crap amp to start with much less how it might be used. If you do not like Wampler pedals you do not like guitar pedals. Of the hundreds I have had Wampler remains a line that never disappointed and always has a range of adjust beyond other pedals.I wanted one of these for ages and always kept getting other things. When my Plexi Deluxe Drive went on back order wait for 6 weeks I canceled the order and got the Triple Wreck. A quality build as usual from Dr. Wampler. Throughout constant pedal changes Wampler's remain on my board unpushed by others.

I don't actually HAVE a solid state amp to play it through at the moment, but I would say that if you don't like something about the solid state amp's sound, the Triple Wreck won't completely get rid of that. That is to say, if you think the amp sounds horrible, the Triple Wreck won't change the sound completely, it just adds a Recto-style flavor.

I typically use Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48's. I have one guitar that I use Ernie Ball 10-46's, but almost always 11's on everything else. The chugga is mostly from making sure the action isn't too low on your wound strings. Thanks!

Yeah, because it will sound way better that way. Always sucks about youtube video's! They set the amp up so that the pedal sounds good. As soon as you buy it, come home and plug it into your (real) clean Fender amp, it sounds like shit. Sometimes, of course! Depends on the pedal.

I would say that is probably just how the pedal is. I've never really noticed it myself. I would say though, if you find a sound you like, it doesn't matter where the knobs are set :P

I might not listen to the same type of music is you, but I must admit, you really sold me on this distortion pedal. If you would like to take my advice on getting a good Metal tone, try to even out the mids and the bass, and turn the gain to 3 o' clock.

I just got one of these and the low end was less than inspiring. with my amp anyway. a lot of gain on tap but I could not get that big tight chugging out of it that I like. I was maybe expecting to much from it. but for 270 bucks I think I should !

for me i would take the mid range down to about 3, treble to 10 and bass up to about 6-7, and gain at 10. gives it a real swampy sound

You might try backing the bass knob on your amp down instead. Its difficult to tell without hearing it.

Hi Lucas, I appreciate your review. May I know what's your equalizer setting in your amp? I find Triple Wreck to be a little bit bass-y when I used it in my solid state amp. i tried to increase the High knob in the pedal but it is not enough. When I try to increase the treble in my amp, the tone gets too harsh. Hope you can help me. thanks!

hey man, i have a question : I just got my triple wreck the other day and i loved it. but i found out that the volume and Gain knobs doesnt start to work before your reach kinda... 9 or 10:30 o clock positions. To me the gain knob need sto be at least on 13:30 to give me enough distortion without loosing sustain, and on 3 o clock its PERFECT . and the volume knob only starts to give me real deal volume up to 12 o clock. is it a problem with my pedal or are all triple wrecks like that? THANKS
