I do like the background unmusical rustle, little coughs, people shifting, cell phone ring, cup falling, persons voice quietly echoing. Idky, it just makes it more real and subtle. Its beautiful to be imperfect like this. Life goes on and continues despite our organized "beautiful" song. This awesome element of this song continues when the song is over. It tunes us in into the subtle spontaneous rustle we do hear in real life all the time.
@kfogo7459 Жыл бұрын
i agree, the subtle noises add a lot to it. i cant really describe why, but i think hearing the person who is playing the music in the recording is really beautiful, it makes the music even more human maybe. since you like these background noises i recommend you also listen to "Hania Rani, Ólafur Arnalds: Woven Song - piano reworks" and "Trance Frendz - An evening with Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm", you might like these too :)

I’ve heard and discovered some really great music on KZbin over the last several years. Music that inspires and concentrates your ideas into an almost tangible quality. But this track is something that I keep returning to over and over again, its a true piece of art, reflexive and organic, almost willing you to go and do something creative.

I do think people misunderstand Oli's music, he does not make sad music, if there is sadness in the music, like a lot of it, the point is Oli always looks at silver linings- the hope, the peace, the emotions, the humanity that makes us human.

There is an innate sense of hope in all art that we create, no? Some people like to make things black and white. Some people like to tell us that the world is made up of shades of gray. Very few will tell you to take off your damn sunglasses and witness the wealth of color and subtlety that makes up our beautiful, beautiful world.
@kameleon-ye9iu7 жыл бұрын
well said beside i don 't agree on just sunglasses cause it doesn't takes enough color away compaired to the grey view of a few :) and pls with less grey and black smoke cause mommy(earth) doesn't like it :)

a pervers feeling I would say is what this gives me a melancholia of sorts. The suffering or the bad memories are as important as the good memories, and the good experiences. If you sort of, can imagine life as being 99% of the time quite linear, and most of the time you're in a state of neither happiness nor sadness. And then that 1% of the time you experience moments of very crystalised happiness, or crystalised sadness, or loneliness or depression. And I believe all of those moments are very pertinant. It's like I said to you, that for me it's mostly those crystalised moments of melancholy which are more inspirational to me. And in a strange way they become quite beautiful in their own way. Music that is sad, melancholic, depressing, is in a kind of perverse way more uplifting. I find happy music extremely depressing, mostly - mostly quite depressing. It's particularly this happy music that has no spirituality behind it - if it's just sort of mindless party music, it'd be quite depressing. But largely speaking, I was the kind of person that responds more to melancholia, and it makes me feel good. And I think the reason for this is, I think if you respond strongly to that kind of art, it's because in a way it makes you feel like you're not alone. So when we hear a very sad song, it makes us realise that we do share this kind of common human experience, and we're all kind of bonded in sadness and melancholia and depression.” - Steven john wilson
