5:20 - Feel thing, hard thing is finding time and energy to work on passion projects in the margin. The very special (and rare) opportunities are when you can get someone else to bank roll your passion project.

As my career is winding down (I'm getting old) I realize that I made wonderful money, traveled to awesome places and I worked with some really elite clientele. I managed to survive and thrive as a woman in a very competitive world. I never got to make a documentary in the conventional sense, but the hundreds and hundreds of creative assets I've made are something I will always be proud of. As a corporate cinematographer I did all the things you highlight in your 5 step "plan", and changed course many times. Rarely will you ever in a career do everything you want to do, and to understand what YOU take out of the process goes a long way to having a long career. After all, people are paying YOU, and they want something from YOU. I don't think KZbin allows much more comments here, so I will stop.

I really needed to watch this video. Was having a conversation with a photographer buddy of mine and have been feeling lost while juggling my 9-5 while thinking of ways to get my film career moving along. Finding the balance is a tough one. Thanks for the video

Thank you Luc, for sound advice and tips. The planning is the key to find your way and step forward. I am currently trying to do creative film work after relocation in new country - trying to get my bearings-network and make first steps while still working remotely 9-5job, not easy but adventurous. I am hoping and believing I can one day live my dream of full time filmmaker and photographer. Im grateful for the guides you prepared and give out to us, much appreciated. All the best to all with planning and making the first steps.

This is incredible, as a filmmaker trying to get into it full time, your channel has been a great resource and motivation to take the leap. I've been a videographer shooting doccie style interviews on the side and I've been SEARCHING for this. Thank you so much

Thanks for the continued great content Luc - some brilliant takeaways and awesome to see another doc focused channel getting traction. I’m looking for an editor for my channel that focuses on the business side of filmmaking and recall you mentioning your editor in a previous video. Could you drop me his details please? Thank you and look forward to seeing more content from you🙌
