I've watched a lot of your videos and one of the main points you stress is that the swing is dominated by the left side control and putting is dominated by the right side control. Today while playing and for the first time in 46 years of playing I did my best to perform this way...as I played more and more holes I felt better and better and Jim it was wonderful...swinging and putting from these sides and hands felt so right for the first time ever...I almost feel giddy with delight and knowing that playing this way is the way the best players perform makes it even better. Thank you Jim

My divots used to be 30 to 45 degrees left of target. "PGA guy told me not to close my stance to adjust for that. I was doing Jim's setup unknowingly. It worked but was told it was wrong. Just shot 34 on a division 1 college course and I am 58. I never shot under par in 40 years. Thanks Jim. You validated my instincts.

I took my son to Top Golf here in MN. I started with my 54 degree, and incremented up to my 8. My son was amazed at the consistency of the monitor numbers using stillness. It works!! Also, after 1.5 hrs of hitting, my 20 year old tried was trying to create the power in the shot and felt it the next day. For me, at 51, I felt very little.

Been watching the videos for a few weeks now but today was the first time i tried it on the range. I have never hit the ball so solidly. Several shots today were the purest shots i have ever hit. I hit one with my 5 wood that made a different sound than i have ever heard before from that club. From the wedges to fairway woods the strike was pure. I have tried weight forward before (stack and tilt) but never got solid sontact consistently and oten hit it left. By adding in the closed shoulders i got pure strikes and a tight draw but also compression. Just need to get out on the course now which isn't easy in the winter in the UK.

I am here because this looks a pretty stress free swing. So much tension has developed in my swing because of trying to move the body too much that it n makes the game much more difficult and has developed into the yips. I don't have much of a problem with chipping and putting but the longer clubs and driver have been another story. I will definitely try this swing out.

Jim has the only swing style out there that really works for me. However, I dont stand so deeply closed, and dont use a strong grip, and I hit lazer straight shots, that have maybe a 2 foot baby draw at the end. Im still playing around with ball position, and strength of grip for some very interesting results....some good...some bad. Thanks Jim

When freeze framed at impact Jim's shoulders and hips are close to parallel to intended line of flight, the closed setup position belies the real swing, but sure does help route the club out from the inside and stop the right shoulder taking over. I've tried this swing with success at times..I just need to curb the tendency to swing hard, a good swing for oldies I think.
@jimvenetosgolf
@jimvenetosgolf 10 ай бұрын
You are a bit off there. At impact, my shoulders are closed and my hips are open. The closed set up is crucial for 99% of the population to be able to keep their chest closed through impact and swing on a shallow swing path.

@@jimvenetosgolfJim, point taken, I wasn't trying to get too picky, slowing down a video clip is only approximate. My playing mates just can't figure how using your swing, I don't hit the ball to where my feet are pointing...out to the right. At impact my shoulders are quite a way left of the feet line. I'm trying to wean myself off the exaggerated closed feet line, but consistency is better with them closed.

Hi Jim. I've been away from golf for about 5 years due to a back injury. Just now getting back into the game. I want to start fresh and try to rid myself of old bad habits. I've been only hitting wedges indoor thus far using your technique. I'm a right-hand golfer with a dominant right side. I've been focusing on letting my left side do the work, but I still hit behind the ball an inch or two about 50% of the time. It's been frustrating. Appreciate any advice. Thanks much!

With this style, do you change the position of the ball in your stance? It looks as though it's very much placed towards the back foot, but that might be a trick of the eye there due to your body angle.

@teddyzamba1396 11 ай бұрын
A natural arcing swing will cause the draw; when clubface is square to the the shoulders. However, you will have to discover what works best for you since it's highly dependent on your follow through and some clubs will respond differently, so you will have to dial in your sightlines.

Hi Jim, I’m a new subscriber and really like and appreciate your videos. I’m wondering if you keep the club face square to the swing arc on your backswing (i.e. club face “looking” at the ball on the takeaway). Or is that a variable you don’t even think about?
@jimvenetosgolf
@jimvenetosgolf 11 ай бұрын
Copy that. Keeping the clubface looking at the ball is not how you keep a clubface square. That is a misperception and mistake of popular instruction. My club remains square to my weight and my lead arm…if my weight and the ball don’t move, then my club is square to the ball. All explained in my school.

@@tedoneill1260 negative. The draw doesn’t come from closing the club face, my face is square at impact. The draw comes from the inside out swing path. What you see my hands do happens after the ball and is a product of staying closed through impact. It is also called release.

@@ljiujitsulNo, your shaft is too vertical in the down swing, you need to shallow your swing; which means keeping your hands in; when your hands get too far away the shaft gets steep and you chunk the shot. It requires many repetitions to dial in the swing, but if performed properly you should never, or rarely hit heavy, behind the ball.
