Full exposure: I started messing with my grandmothers pedal type singer when I was 6 years old, and I have alway been enamored with sewing, I’ve been a welder, been in the trucking business, excavating business but, I always end back up in the auto repair business, along with doing upholstery work. That being said, you have to be versatile to make it in the automotive industry. When there’s no upholstery to do , you will have other things to work on. Getting rich doing it is possible but, you will have to have several people working for you and I always worked alone. Less headaches = less income but a lot less stress

Hello Richard, I totally agree with your philosophy concerning craftsmanship and quality of work. Part of your wealth are definitely your decades of experience including the years of hard work for little money, during which you sew hundreds or thousend miles of seams and stitches and gave you the confidence in your craftsmanship and made you the master of your trade you are today. I personally think, one has to go this extra miles in life and it is not always good to take shortcuts. But it is always good to hear advice from a master. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, greetings from Vienna..

What you did not say was that the phone book only came out once a year, so planning the ad for the year had to be right, including the phone number and address.
