Mam you know what I was thinking about this from 3 days, I am an introvert and many people say that introverts don't make friends but it is not the case we do have friends but only 2-3 or very less number , I found my friends are jealous of my victory and felt bad, they fake themselves in front of me. But being an introvert is blessing for me I never depends on other for happiness, so I loved that quote "MY HAPPINESS-MY RESPONSIBILITY" completely relatable

I try my level best to make friends and then keep them happy but they are just toxic they mentally torture me. I still kept bond with them for many years but at a point in my life they were taking tol on mental health and that was the time I decided to cut off with them and trust me that was a life changer step for me. I completely cutoff with them and i started living happy and peacefully then slowly slowly i started making new friends from different colleges and tadaaaa now i have friends which are not my besties but they are there when I need them. And next year moving to city for further studies I will definitely make new and good friends who will not mentally torture me and support me and accept me as I m. Stay away from toxicity u guys ✌

I have a friend. She's really close, but these days I just can't relate to her. (We haven't spoken for months now) She wants to laugh or the conversation gets boring (as I was kinda the clown in the friendship) I can't keep on making her laugh and gossip about god knows who. I am writing this out here as I don't have anyone else I can say these details to. It has come to the point that I get a bit annoyed with the way she even tries to act on social media (as that's the only place I'm seeing her these days) She's a good person but I just don't feel like the friendship is serving me for the better anymore. Last I spoke to her on call I felt sooo drained don't want to get my energy that low again.

Baaabe! Just saw this video ! you know I love all your videos❤️ Haha But im taking time to process this one. I mean Im sure it comes from vedas and must have some widsom. But don't you think this differentiation of people is so black and white! Like the same person can have some virtues and some sins. How can I pick a virtuous one over another. And same goes for happy unhappy. If I choose to be friends with only happy people, what kind of a friend am I to people going through serious shit in life. My intention is just to dicuss your POVs on this :)
@Saral_Lekhi3 жыл бұрын
An unhappy person is different from a happy person dealing with unhappiness. Big difference. One never leaves a person in a mess if one is a friend, but it is often not good to be with a person who is a mess. That's a very very big punishment to endure. Yeah some do it anyways....as a familial duty or some deep love....but no one does it with everyone in their lives. So any which ways people will chose the relationships for which they are ready to suffer but stick to.
@AnitaBokepalli3 жыл бұрын
Hellooo! I’m so glad you asked these questions, I’m sure a few others must have the same questions too. I really want to pin this comment, also because what a nice way of saying something constructive, instead of resorting to hate - which some people may do! ❤ You are right, this is not black and white. People go through different phases - what this sutra is teaching us is how we need to interact with them during those different phases, so that we keep our peace of mind and they benefit as well. We aren’t saying drop unhappy people from your life - but our attitude needs to adapt to the current situation. The right attitude during those phases is one of compassion. We can either at that time go into their sadness and inhabit their space at that time, or stay in our stable space, keep some emotional distance and lift them up to our space (with kindness and compassion as mentioned in the video) :) We often either sympathise or reaffirm their reasons for their sadness out of our love for them, but this doesn’t lift them up and risks us getting pulled into their emotions. This also enables more complaining and unhappiness, and takes away power from that person. Similarly for people who are virtuous and who are not - you are right, this is also not black and white. We of course will embrace all good qualities in one, and do our best to educate our friend about things we feel they can change for the better - but sometimes pushing them too hard on these things will have only negative impact - they might not change and we will deplete our energy too and the relationship can turn sour. In this case, better to be dispassionate - people will ultimately change when they want to :) It might help to look at these characteristics as changing parts of people, and not classify one person as one thing forever. Sorry for the long answer! ::))

I am that unhappy person. But I have a bunch of friends who always run to me when they want any help. I am an introvert and don't talk much. But that's the reason friends call me when they want someone to just listen without interrupting. One day I'm super lazy, next day I'm very productive. So what category do I fall into??
@AnitaBokepalli3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, it appears that you are yet to find your centre, find your peace. But that fact that you are aware of where you and why people might be coming to you - is a step in the right direction.. maybe you could put some of the time and energy that you put into those people who want to talk to you, into yourself - maybe that might make a difference? As to type of person - we all do have some mixtures of the different characteristics in us.. and they change with time too. The idea is that you identify what is needed at any given moment (depending on the person you are interacting with and also how you are feeling) and respond accordingly - so that your own peace of mind is intact :)

We do behave differently with differently people - meaning different people bring out different traits in us. If someone is very happy - you usually tend to be relaxed and happy around them, especially if close to them. And if someone close is sad - you behave and react accordingly too. So don’t worry about feeling different with diff people and scenarios. Let yourself flow through your interactions - and if you do this consciously, with love and awareness - you’ll start to find yourself 💖

First of all, Anita, I loved your expressions while depicting the different kinds of people and while talking about ignorance. On point! Are you trained in classical dance by any chance?🙂 Next coming to the types of people that you described, I feel that ideally it would be easy to typecast a person into one of these categories. But practically, we are all never white or black; never just a happy or an unhappy person; never just always doing good deeds or bad deeds. We are all a mixture of all these above, aren't we? When we meet a person, it would be very difficult to put him/her into one of these four categories and evaluate if we need them as a friend or not. Everyone will have a mixture of good and bad qualities in them. The friendship formula, so to speak, becomes more complex then, wouldn't you say?
@AnitaBokepalli3 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed :) the knowledge in that sutra would be best applied when we look at it with respect to time as well - everybody and everything is changing with time, plus people are a combination of various characteristics at the same time too. The intention of the sutra is to give you the knowledge that helps YOU remain centered and keep a peaceful mind whilst also dealing with people in a way that benefits THEM the most too :) it definitely isn’t black and white, but is written in a way to lay the foundation in a simple manner :) I hope this fills in some gaps :) Haha, thanks, no I’m not trained in classical dancing, but I have always been inclined towards learning this art :)

I have heard from many people and friends they are inspired by me - i got for what I want, try to be a good person, level headed and motivated in many areas of my life, and do my best even though I have my moments (not so happy moments) lol.

Mutual growth is friendship, yes but you mean a mutual purpose? I found it difficult to dissociate friendship from compassion.
@AnitaBokepalli3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, one way to look at it is, when you are being compassionate it is important to understand that you can’t expect equal friendship from the other because they might not be in a position to give that. Right now they might need your love and compassion, without being able to give in return.

What if I feel I have become friends with the 2nd category...ie unhappy person? How do I cut off ....after I made friendship instead of compassion with them!?
@AnitaBokepalli3 жыл бұрын
In this situation, you need to first accept that it is not a typical “friendship” - meaning, it is likely your needs won’t be met and your growth won’t happen in this relationship. Once you accept this it becomes easier to be natural without any expectations in the relationship. Now you can be compassionate towards them, without expecting friendship from them. You can this transition from friendship to being compassionate. But be aware of how this is affecting you and energy levels and your leave of mind.

Yes actively falling apart. The way I understand it now is level. Once u level up, or someone else levels up, like a helicopter taking off, and another doesn't......well u have to get out of that level to be you. You can hover around for a while but it's so stressful and can't be kept on. Some people meet you to complain about life. They even may not even have anything to complain about but they have a need to. They will pretend they are not naggers or complainers by cracking jokes and doing hee hee hee intermittently...but they fool none. Hence without ill will...one must introspect and understand when u or the other person has levelled up and let go. Let go. Be stable at your own level, level up at your own pace and do not lower ur level for anyone. Let it go. It will anyways fall apart otherwise. Time will be wasted in holding on. I for one have no patience for that drama.
