Using starch to clean oil by removing solid particles (like food debris) does not eliminate the toxic compounds formed when oil is repeatedly heated. High temperatures cause chemical changes in the oil, producing harmful substances like trans fats and aldehydes, which can't be removed with simple filtration. Even if the oil looks clean after filtering, it may still contain these toxic compounds, so it's best to avoid reusing oil too many times.

Yes, frying oil can be reused, but there are some things to keep in mind: How many times to reuse The number of times you can reuse oil depends on the type of oil, what you've fried in it, and how well you strain it. Some recommend reusing oil up to three times, while others say you can reuse it up to eight times. When to discard You should throw away oil if it: Looks cloudy or foamy Has a foul odor or taste Smells rancid or musty Smokes before it reaches frying temperature Has been stored for more than 1-2 months the oil becomes increasingly unstable, losing health benefits and generating more toxins with each use Liver damage is not worth it!

Hi Pam, if you sieve it instead you'll extend the useful life of the oil. Besides the residue left after frying, putting your oil through heating cycles damages it because it helps the oil polymerize. Besides that, adding water makes your oil to become rancid faster. What i started doing was keeping 3 used oil containers with a good, fine mesh metal sieve. The newer oil goes into container 1 and the oldest oil goes into container 3.

There are also a few rules when it comes to when you save the oil If you used the oil to fry starches, veggies, you can save it for another use. However if you fry meat, especially seafood, it needs to be tossed Also it's good to add a little bit of used oil in fresh oil

The repeated reheating of cooking oil changes its composition and releases acrolein, which is a toxic and potentially carcinogenic chemical. Never reuse oil.
@npcrah8 ай бұрын
So I guess what we have to figure out is wherever it is that we live, what is more expensive? 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1 cup of water, or however much whatever amount of oil we used costs. If the first equation costs more, don't clean the oil. If the second equation costs more, do clean the oil. If we want to maximize savings, that is.

Dear Granny, We live in a world where many people are already struggling with various health issues. Using reusable cooking oil might save a little cost initially, but it could potentially lead to more significant health expenses if people develop diseases from its use. It's important to consider the long-term health implications and encourage people to use fresh oil instead. This way, they can maintain better health and avoid additional medical costs. Let's help everyone live a healthier life. Have a great Day !
