Rail crossing gates are there for a reason. Many factors can prevent you from seeing or hearing oncoming trains-especially at busy commuter stations. Think you’re fast enough to make the right call?

On August 26, 1991, Mary T. Wojtyla, walks with her lawyer across some train tracks in Downers Grove, Illinois; when a train struck Ms. Wojtyla, she failed to realize was approaching. The 41 year old, mother of 3, apparently distracted by ongoing divorce proceedings, when she crossed the center track struck by an EMD E9 train, traveling at 60 miles per hour. That train killed Mary Wojtyla instantly.

A moving train produces vibrations that travel along the rail in front of the train. Just like big waves in the ocean mean a storm is approaching

You should not go on the tracks Wait for a train to come
@liamhosking29473 жыл бұрын
No, wait for the gates to be fully up and lights off. At crossings with multiple tracks multiple trains can pass at the same time. Once the end of the train passes is NOT your all clear, wait for the gates to be fully up and every light off.

Perhaps you need to change the way you design your stations. You would never see a station with a crossing designed like this in Europe.

The station design isn't the issue, stupid people is the issue

@@mandiwillson3595Which is why you need the design of your stations. People rush all the time and do stupid stuff as a result. So how about an underpass so people don't have to walk across the tracks?

Stop, watch, listen and live. Those railroad gates are down, you know what that means....., don't cross the tracks until the gates are back up and it's safe for you to cross the tracks. You cross the tracks while the gates are down, you're dead.

If that was a real train, he broke some rules as his bell should of been ringing while cross station platforms or grade crossings just to start. If your going to fear monger people, please do it with accuracy and responsibility Metro-Dinks !

The first train wasn't moving. The crossing was activated by the second train. If you're going to criticize a very important message, know what you're talking about.

@Cale Rail train bell or crossing bell? I did not hear the train bell, nor the typical two long short and long horn blows required at all crossings
@cncndr5244 Жыл бұрын
@@KingTrump2024 We have quiet zone crossings when horns need not to be sounded, this scenario (for example) the locomotive engineer of the second movement approaching the crossing passing a stopped movement would have his bell rung and a couple of short blasts of the horn to let others know. As for the train at the station, the ringing of the bell starts when approaching and occupying the station while moving, not when he's stopped. The engineer will commence ringing the bell when they are set to depart and continue to ring the bell once the locomotive has cleared the platform.

That's just in bad taste for a commuter line to display this in first person. No one needs to see the graphic nature of a person getting directly hit by a locomotive. Learning the lesson is just fine by showing people that there's a second train when waiting behind the gate that would be fine but shame on you go train for allowing this to actually be publicized. Engineers and conductors go through the same thing at the same time they don't want to see this type of nature and graphic either even to the general public this is a real low to get to the point where someone needs to learn railroad safety in this first person view. For anyone who disagrees with me just understand that that's too much and no I'm not weak stomach I just can imagine a kid logging on to this and it's just a bad bad view to settle when you can just teach this in the correct manner in a more civilized manner.
