Im 55 now. My grandmother took me to meet my great grandmother in Campti LA when I was 8. It was more than just another world. Time seemed to stand still. I wish I had the presence of mind to ask questions when i got older. In many ways i thought they would always be here😢❤😊

I had to stop this video in the middle to comment this: I was born east of Baton Rouge, but I moved to Acadiana ten years ago, and I knew instantly that it was my home. Though I'm not Cajun by blood, I love learning about my chosen home and its traditions through any venue I can so that I can respect those who lived here before me (and their descendents). Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences! 😊

This definitely gets me wanting to do a journal again. I always start a journal before dropping off about a third of the way through, losing motivation. But maybe I should make that another 2024 goal: start a journal and finish it by the end of 2024...

This warms my heart soooo much. It is UTTERLY N ENTIRELY the bloodline that drives you. Being born in Baton Rouge of cajun folk I see these pages n I feel home. I’ve been on a journey for years of the same concept. Seeing those elders in my family pass one after the other n noticing my children/grans/greatgrans, etc never going to know out side of what lil is in history books (laughs at THAT concept) pushes me to document what I’ve seen. My mother, now 80 n the last living elder of our family on this earth I feel my bloodline call to me, even scream to me at times “WRITE DOWN HER EVERY WORD”. Remembering my granny in her kitchen (an outside shed) her humming as she shucked peas. Talking to us about how her father was a Spanish seamen n landed on Louisiana shores saved his money n became a citizen n sent for his bride n so we began. How when my mother’s french bloodline blended well with my father’s makes me long for pasted days. Stories of my two great grandmothers being in same house, one speaking only French n other only Spanish n neither understanding the other for a while. It’s these stories that DNA tests won’t tell you. At the end of the day… after elders pass, there is only “recorded information”, so it’s up to us to RECORD our experience information so future generations will know more than what ancestry .com will tell them. If not us… then who? My end thought n by the way so sorry for what seems like gibberish of a comment… I tell my niece in Phoenix… “sha (my pet name ofc from cajun granny), birth records will tell you who your people were, but I will tell you HOW your ppl were.” Such a precious book, congratulations as an older Cajun woman who misses her bayou, I’m so proud of you n happy for your future generations.

Couple John Lennon quotes I like: We live in a world where we have to hide to make love, while violence is practiced in broad daylight. John Lennon I cannot be what I am not. John Lennon I really really loved your grimoire! It's just the kind of thing I want to make for myself, but didn't know what to call it. This was wonderful!! I make so many books for so many similar reasons and topics, but for some reason, hesitated on my Grimoire. This is the best inspiration ever: "I showed up". And to keep the rules boundless, and enjoy the book! Do as we please in them, not stick to some formal Tome-type book. That's what was turning me off about it, but nope, it's a "do as you please" deal. My mindset has been fixed. Thank you!!

I'm in the middle of the video but I had to pause and comment 😄 - your grimoire is so creative and full of inspiration! I always struggle with the structure of my grimoires (I have archer&olive and similar ones), I'm thinking that I need to leave space if I need to write more, I need to work in sections etc. etc. But your approach is very freeing and inspiring 🤍. Now I really want to get creative and start journaling 😄

This was so fun to watch!! 🥰 Thank you for sharing this with us! ❤ Reminded me a lot of the old days when I would do the same sort of thing in moleskine journals, or sketchbooks. It’s been a while since I’ve managed to get things written or drawn on physical pages, but I have a big hot mess on a digital journal I’ve been upkeeping these days. 😊 Can’t lie, though, this made me wanna go dig up some of my dozens of notebooks I have laying around in storage to fill up. ❤

It was such an interesting video. I took notes in my own notebook on the things that inspired me ❤ It’s also prompted me to research Cajun / Louisiana Acadian which as someone from UK, it’s not something I’ve ever learnt about. So that was eye opening. I’m going to include a quote from you in my notebook if that’s ok. “Sometimes just the act of pasting something that I found on this piece of paper made me interact with it. It’s a special kind of magic like I stopped time to do this. It can be as much or as little as you want. It doesn’t have to be beautiful. Just interacting with your book, gluing some thing on a piece of paper. Just showing up” Thanks for sharing your book x

I have a binder so what better use than to take it out and speak to the spirits. I will also be laminating it with packing tape 😂 cause that makes my heart happy and will protect the page for forever

These are my books and if they are wanted by anyone in the family, they'll just have to figure them out lol. I do love yours tho

I make the book myself, so when I create the signatures I add these little plastic sheets (for business or collectible cards, that usually go in binders). I usually cut them how I want them, set them in my book pages and then punch holes for the thread and stitch them in with the rest of the book!
