Japan is a country with some of the best food in the world, certainly not exclusive to Tokyo or Osaka! I hope you're hungry because I'm traveling 550 km north to Iwate Prefecture (岩手県) in the Japanese countryside to stuff my mouth with as much good food as I can!
What's in my stomach this time?
★ Ramen
★ Cabbage Shioyaki Udon
★ Horumon Nabe
★ Sashimi (Donko and Soi / Rock Fish)
★ Tofu and Soba Nabe
★ Cabbage Ice Cream
★ Japanese Sake (雪の鼓 Yuki no Tsutsumi / 鷲の尾Washinoo )
★ Jamon (Raw Ham)
All of the eating is surrounded by a lot of adventures!
A Japanese festival, kimono rental, 50-meter dash, fishing boat ride along the Japanese coast, and learning to make ramen noodles and the perfect bowl, in 3 minutes or less!
WHERE IS IWATE?
Google Map: goo.gl/maps/6rmmgGBLZX32
Iwate prefecture is Japan's second largest prefecture behind Hokkaido. It's a 2.5 hour shinkansen ride from Tokyo Station.
Subtitle this video for the world!:
kzbin.info_vide...
If you have time to help subtitle in your language, I've very very thankful for that! So are a lot of viewers!
About the activities:
Ramen lesson's at Kotsu Kotsu Ramen no.36 are irregular and need a reservation. For the Iwate Machi autumn festival, anyone can join! There is a special float annually public participants. Note that group floats are normally for members only.
BIG THANK YOU!
Also, a big thank you to the people of Iwate including the friendly groups who let me participate in their Autumn festival!
Shimachi-gumi 新町組 and Omachi-gumi 大町組 fed me a lot of good food and drink ... more than I ever needed :)
This show has been created and produced by John Daub ジョン・ドーブ. He's been living and working in Japan for over 18 years and regularly reports on TV for Japan's International Channel.

I have a Patreon but not sure how to use it :P no time to manage it because I've been jumping from project to project like crazy. More NHK location shoots and commercial work coming up. I'll look back at the Patreon page next week though. I make these on a very limited budget although I had help from the tour company to get around this time. That was invaluable! Patreon could help with ALL the shoots like that. -john
