I can definitely confirm this game was barely advertised. I was in the perfect age range for Wappy dog, and was obsessed with both virtal pets and toys to life. If I knew for even a second Wappy existed it would have been a core memory begging my parents for one for months, but I never saw any ads for it. Criminal that I only found out about such a me core game and concept just now watching this video

Same! I was around 7-8 when they came out, and I just so happened to find one at Gamestop so I got lucky. I never saw any ads for it, but I remember finding it and thinking it was just so cool I had to get it D:

I can also confirm as someone who loved virtual pets and was 8 years old at the time. However I found out about this game somehow and my parents ended up getting the game for me. Sadly, I no longer own the toy or game. I’m glad that more people are talking about this obscure gem now

OMG I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS LITTLE GUY AS A KID!! I remember seeing launch day bonuses for this, including plastic purple butterfly earrings if you bought it from Costco, a bone-shaped DS stylus from Walmart, and a rubber Pawprint collar/game card holder from ToysRUs. I vividly remember really wanting the earrings, so my mom and I went to my local Costco on launch day to buy Wappy, but they didn’t end up having Wappy. My mom and I went from store to store just trying to find the little guy stocked in stores and didn’t find him until we went to ToysRUs. Unfortunately Wappy didn’t end up selling well and I kept seeing him at Walmart and ToysRUs in-store, and eventually at Five Below. Thank you for covering Wappy and for bringing back memories from the depths of my childhood.

I found a Wappy dog at a thrift store and painted on it and named it Jenny after that robot girl, and didn’t realize she was a virtual pet until later on. All she does is cry, and it upsets me, so I keep her switched off. 😭 I love her though.

I HAD THIS AS A KID!! My parents had gotten me a rose gold DS lite and some Zhu-Zhu pets for Christmas in 2011 and I was absolutely obsessed with both of them. In early 2012 they found out about Wappy and surprised me with one. I remember putting those flower stickers all over my Wappy! I don't really remember the game since I was in 2nd grade when I got it, but I do remember my nephews getting into a fight summer of 2012 and seeing Wappy fly across the room. It's okay tho, he survived!

I got this for Christmas when I was 11, and absolutely loved it. The robot doesn't work any more because the batteries sat inside for too long and leaked everywhere from not using it for so long. I still have Wappy though, she sits as a decoration on my nightstand.

I have a Wappy still from her first release!! I still think shes rather cute despite prolly playing the game on its own a bit more than actually using her along with it because of how she communicated with the game. I remember vividly having to turn off our old brick of a CR TV to even attempt to interact with her! She honestly was a lot of fun and I don't think I ever like regretted asking for her ?? If they were to bring back Wappy, just port the DS game to the Switch.

omg I still have my Wappy Dog! (technically) The truth is, I technically have 2 lol. I have 2 of the robot dogs, but only one of the games since I lost the game a long time ago. I bought it originally at Gamestop randomly sometime around 2011-2012. I saw it and just thought it was so cool I had to beg my dad to get it lol. I loved it, however I lost the game and so the pupper was just kinda sat around for a couple years until I moved lol. I think I have my original Wappy somewhere in the garage, however a couple of years ago (sometime during the pandemic) I decided to buy it again on Ebay since it was super cheap and I just wanted to feel the nostalgia again. The new Wappy is sitting on my little shelf by my bed while the game is in my 3ds bag :3 Maybe I'll go digging for my og one so I can have 2 puppers hehe.
