I enjoy seeing that picker going. Me and my grandpa are thinking about picking ear corn next year, we haven't for a few years. We have a John deere 300 with a 3 row head. We also have a new idea one row, but my grandpa said with the corn stalks being so tough nowadays, you cant go 50ft without plugging it. But the john deere does a great job. Keep up the great work!

Alan, just wanted to express my gratitude for your videos! Yesterday I had a problem getting your site to stay on probably due my technology which is almost nil! I remember last year the Uni System didn't seem to husk very well, but this year it seemed to me that Husking was not a problem ? Again, I really appreciate the videos!!!!!! oh, and I was working on the 570 Cockshutt I did get it going needs a lot of work. But that's our love to hear them old tractors going. Skip, Western PA

Love watching the old Uni. When i was a kid, Dad and Uncle farmed together and had 2 Uni Harvesters. One dedicated to the chopper, one bounced between sheller and picker. Both of their's were gas as well.
@MorganOtt-ne1qj10 ай бұрын
New Idea made the best pickers ever. Probably the only thing that the UniSystem was really suited for. It was "at home" picking corn, but struggled to chop or combine. Great video!

Great to see a 704 Uni running again. As a young mechanic (working for a New Idea dealership in central PA) in the early 70’s I attended many New Idea Uni System service training schools. NI had a mobile trailer set up with an engine, transmission, final drives and hydraulic systems. Spent many days working on them and watched them change through the model years. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed watching the Uni work. There used to be a few around here, before self propelled forage harvesters became as common as they are today.

Cool old picker, I like it. It’s a pretty nice looking machine and sounds like it runs pretty good. This area around me ( just north and south of Tulsa, Oklahoma used to be pretty big dairy country, but they are all gone now. There is still a few silos still standing but most of them have been taken down. Most small family farms are being leased out to a couple large operators. I’m 54 and I’m probably considered the youngest that grain farmed here, most of them are either passed on or in their 80’s now. It’s sad but things change. Great video! Blessings!!

Those GMC V 6's were 400 Cubic in engines. Had one of those New Idea uni-systems with that engine in. Before I farmed I drove a milk truck with that engine in and they were considered to be a long life, fuel efficient, and low RPM engine with plenty of power. Loved the sound of them running!

We had a one row uni pull behind. That was the only one we ever used. We would buy parts one to keep that one going. Best picker ever. Those binoculars looked sweet. But how can you not to spend 500 bucks? Only take you to save 1 calf or a cow.. pig. Sheep. What ever. It would pay for it self.. thank you for sharing.

That's a neat picker. Glad you were able to use it and get some of the corn too. One use you might have for the binoculars might be looking at the moon and stars. It would be interesting I think. My husband had a telescope that he used and was able to take photos with. Thanks for the video. Have been wondering how you guys were doing. Love the cat, too. Our house cat is blind and has her paths she uses to get around in the house as long as you don't distract her or throw her off the trail. Take care everyone.
