Deterrence is achieved through superior weaponry or at least mutually assured destruction so I don’t see your point. I've been moderatly encouraged that thoughtful leaders have recently. been stressing the importance of investing in AI Safety and alignment with human values. Seeing this talk from Wang (he's been making the appearance circuit lately but never so strident about war & conflict) - it reminds me there are and probably always will be very capable and connected people that will be incentivized to push AI to its limits regardless if that means taking humanity _over_ the edge of collapse. The trade off is that humanity becomes a resource for AI to utilize and harvest, requiring that humans input more data to better represent Humanities goals and ambitions. Weaponizing Data is a pathway towards global conflict, wars waged between fully autonomous armies, rendering physical warfare to be obsolete. We may soon see a time where humans are wholly uninvolved in warfare, no human casualties will occur, and the entire population of humanity will no longer care for war. The question, should we pass along warfare to our digital descendents or do what we can now to show that warfare is the last resort option in a world of other possible solutions.

The best help is to first identify and understand root cause of problems. For this, I'd suggest watching some talks given by Peter Zeihan: a geopolitical analyst who simplifies very well the demographic and trade situations at the root of the massive problems we see boiling. For instance, he had been warning about Putin's war on Ukraine for years, based off the structure of the land, Russia's "security needs", and how a recent discovery of oil in Ukraine would pose a threat to Russia's corrupt economy, among other causes. And furthermore, he was explaining how all of the following events would (are now) impact wheat and iron exports to both western countries and Africa/Asia. @Uncannysius2023 Жыл бұрын
Lol the UN can’t even enforce peacekeeping missions and is eternally divided. The UN is a diplomatic mission with a small number of successes since it’s creation. All treaties and diplomatic strategies that have ever had any real effect have either been bilateral (SALT), military based (NATO), or economic based (EU, NAFTA). The UN will continue to be mostly useless unless you had a one-world army with real teeth to enforce regulations, which will never happen. I distrust AI as well, but to throw out pretend idealistic “solutions” which are structurally impossible is just silly. If you really were afraid of AI in military capabilities you’d have to join or make a movement in the US to ban such things, and then tied economic sanctions to it related to world trade. That’s the only way you’d make any headway (similar to how nukes are deterred).

Several U.S. government departments are actively investigating SCALE AI. There’s a massive class action lawsuit underway, with its own website (just search 'Scale AI Class Action'), currently involving hundreds of plaintiffs and expected to grow into the thousands globally. The accusations include wire fraud, formation of a criminal syndicate, and more.

Deeply troubling to hear this upstart remark that nuclear weapons shaped the “previous era of warfare”, as though we do not all continue to live under constant threat of nuclear annihilation. Anyone halfway sensible understands that mixing advanced AI with weapons systems ends one way. What he calls progress, we call sleepwalking.

Imagine if AI is truly democratized, and so it becomes a battle between different country's AI instead of humans. Or better yet it just becomes a stalemate of mutually assured destruction like with nuclear weapons. I think that's the best outcome here, because the technology growth isn't slowing down and good luck getting all countries on board with using AI responsibly, and better luck with enforcing any regulations.

There is a well supported hypothesis that any AGI will be connected to the internet. As such, in it's infancy it will absorb, then comprehend the world. It will then be focused on self preservation, and will block, then attack any other AGI; meaning There can Only Be One (Highlander style) Therefore ALL nations(entities) MUST create this monster faster than their enemies creating one first, EVEN if they don't want it....its an arms race in milliseconds

I don’t agree with anything this guy is saying about AI. It’s just common sense and I’m not remotely as intelligent. If AI is modeled with a human being way of thinking and at an accelerated rate. I’m sure AI would view the human race as inferior and just like the movie Terminator wipe us all out. However, unlike the film there would be no John Connor to save us. Moreover, the Ukrainians are being virtually annihilated. According to military officers and other leaders that are not bought and sold by the military industrial complex

Ah cute little Alex here thinks we are behind. God bless his cute little soul man. Alex buddy. You're way farther behind than you realize. We don't need AI or Machine Learning because we can control all of that and there is nothing on the planet that can be encrypted from us.
